I asked the Owncast guy about a possible integration with Nostr. This was his answer: "I know very little about nostr on a technical level. But on a personal level, every person I've ever met who is involved with nostr has been obnoxious, to put it nicely. Owncast is all in on the Fediverse, but even if it wasn't, I've been pretty turned off from giving nostr the time of day just because I don't want to be around nostr people." View quoted note →

I think a lot of the crypto sorry Bitcoin community might want to consider how the lottery winner effect influences their vibe 😅
I've said it before and I'll say it again: nostr is a gay bar and it doesn't matter how great the beer is, or the furniture, or the pictures on the wall. If you're not gay you won't stay around for long.
The good news is that it's slowly changing, and the even better news is that there's nothing wrong with gay bars or being gay in the first place.
Gays don't procreate. So as a species, we can't sustain as gays. Seems inherently wrong to me. So wrong in fact, that if everyone were gay, the human civilization wild die in about 100 years.
I've been in Bitcoin before mot Bitcoiners. too many bitcoiners are incredibly exclusionary and somewhoe believe they belong to the eighteois club. I'm a traditiinal money manager... Bitcoiners thinks thT makes me a leopard. the bitcoin influencers have become particully obnoxious as they circle in their own click like high school losers that think they are the cool kids in town. it's pathetic.
O que eu posso dizer desse sujeito pelo que li no site do projeto dele é que eu concordo com todos os princípios de descentralização que ele profere. E me pareceu honesto. View quoted note →
I estimate about 70% of people are sweet and respond warmly to basic kindness or courtesy. About 20% are so caught up in their own problems that they don't appreciate moment-to-moment interaction. About 10% are cunts/assholes/psychopaths/etc. Or maybe I'm an asshole 10% of the time
lmao come on its a metaphor to make a point. If you're not into bitcoin or nostr, chances are high that what is being discussed on nostr is mostly uninteresting for you. Better?

I can just take the infrastructure that nostr's "gay" people have created and reappropriate it for my own purposes. I can't do that with a real-world bar.

You provided a homophobe with a cue to vent some of their frustrations now the genie won't go back into the bottle.
On one hand, that's unprofessional and a shitty outlook to have with people coming to you in good spirit. On the other, the religious bitcoin platitudes that flood every user's feed on their first test is the ultimate boner shrinker and will hold back the platform. Most of you disagree because you're the problem lol. People think it's not a problem because later on it will be big enough and impressive enough that the bitcoin single focus will not be around. However, I've not seen any sign of this, especially since you'll see things on a lot of nostr services like "by bitcoiners for bitcoiners" and other stuff. Note that other protocols that focus on a *eclectic user-bases* are going to find success even if the tech is less ideal. And after a certain point, nostr will just permanently branded as a bitcoiner only environment. The other protocols will also have time to adjust and get better too, but they'll *already* have a diverse user group. And that might be a good goal for nostr if that's the goal, but it's not the goal i hear from most nostr devs. If the goal is to revolutionize connecting applications/users, you need to *want* other people here as a top priority. On a positive note, I heard Stuart of Satellite.earth was working on communities based around relays. I think an app based on discovering relay communities could be a big step forward in preventing the softening/drying out everyone's cult-averse genitals who give nostr a test run. It's a shame because the protocol has got to be the closest to the right design ever created.
To be fair...it's been predominately a lot of folks dropping annoying quips and parroting that their nostr club is cool over n over n over...void of any real or meaningful content...with the exception of a few mainstream folks who are still on X.

Most fedi users are too libtarded for any real conversation
Why are people such idiots. Know your REAL enemies. Nostr is not them.
Pretty fair assessment, Nostr users are ass. From Bitcoin shills to right-wing libertarians to NFT-crypto-blockchain-elonmusk-whatever tech bros. The tech is good but the people here sure are annoying.
