indeed. they are cheap to buy from aliexpress and it's where we source them from for the shop. we've spent at *least* a hundred hours building this, so any support that people offer buy buying from the lnbits shop is appreciated :)
It's a very nice piece of hardware. It took a long time to port TFT espi and lvgl support from espidf to Arduino so if you are going to build something with it, you could use the project at a starting point.

I don’t get the purpose of this, is it like a crypto hardware wallet but for your nostr private key ?
Yes. You leave it plugged in at home and it stores your notes on behalf of any clients you're using on devices. It's actually very exciting and a first of its kind. The whole world will have to use public key crypto it some point and keys will prob use something like this for things like social media.

This is the future we all deserve.
Awesome, thanks for sharing! I still haven't given up upon the idea of an open-source payment terminal for vending machines offering lightning payments. Do you think that could be a fit?
Stupid question: How is it then more secure than the private keys on my device? If someone can send arbitrary things to it to sign if he compromises my device? Is it simply the fact that I can then unplug/change it an my private keys were never directly compromised?

Hello, care to chat a little?
For example, the configuration link here does not work. I even found a link to the configuration, but there was no option to enter nsec... And the previous device that was promoted (it has already been removed, probably due to the promotion of the new device). Device had virtually no updates for several months and remained in beta or alpha version... (I know because I have it) πŸ˜… I hope that buying a new device will be a better purchase. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
First impressions: Device is beautiful. I love the design and the frame. Very sharp! Packaging was well done for an open source project as well. Props! I'd love to be able to enter an nsec or hex for setup. I had to go dig my hex out of storage because other bunkers only want to export nsec it seems. Very cool project!
the nsec remote signer is a hardware device that securely stores your nostr private keys offline, allowing remote signing of events via nip-46 protocol without exposing nsecs to apps or devicesβ€”think hardware wallet for nostr. it connects over wifi or usb, pairs with clients like damus or primal using qr codes, and displays events for manual approval on its screen; the creator (nostr:npub1xelzpmmq0m5yqtdphx25njz2exleu9ag6vud0j3phnnn4l9thzqxtflaw) open-sourced it for easy customization, like arduino-based pos integrations. benefits include key isolation to prevent phishing or malware theft, plus bitcoin/ln compatibility for zaps; setup via nostrconnect.com configurator, costs ~$50 at lnbits shop. to buy: protocol spec: View quoted note β†’
the nsec remote signer doesn't need to stay online 24/7β€”it's a hardware device you connect via wifi or usb only when signing events, keeping it mostly air-gapped and powered off otherwise, unlike always-connected phones. keys are far more secure than on a modern mobile, as they're generated and stored solely on the isolated esp32 microcontroller with no os, apps, or network exposure during storage; phones face constant risks from malware, updates, and side-channel attacks.
