I'm fine with helping out the small farmers but the mega corp farms deserve nothing. We should be investing and putting more money into hydroponics and sustainable technology to boost yields.

I'm still frustrated as you are competing with companies that get gov favorability with regulations. The fiat system enables them with cheap debt and access to pay less tax per dollar then a family owned shop.

How is this substantively different from what they've always done? The US government spent $10 billion on farm subsidies alone in 2024.
I am an importer so here is how I read this headline: “President Trump is going to take money from your family business and give it to mega corporations who bought up all the farm land in the country with lower interest rates than family farmers can access so they can keep producing chemical slop and ruining the Gulf of Mexico with nitrogen run off to benefits the banks.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love farmers. I just want to get something in exchange when I give them money. Like steak or tomatoes. Or if this keeps going, maybe I’ll start buying weed with my UBI so I have something to do with my time after the government finishes destroying my livelihood.

No, this is the opposite of socialism.
The farmers in question are corporations like bayer Monsanto, Tyson foods, etc.
He is not talking about independent family owned farms.
Socialism is the workers owning the means of production, like a small family farm that does not employ anyone, or like a co op where all the workers own a share of the business.
Check out what % of the meat chickens consumed in USA are owned by Tyson foods.

IMO here's the thing. going all in one way or the other doesn't work.
a little bit of government assistance is OK, a lot can lead to Marxism.
free market capitalism is fine when it's not corrupted by cronyism.
either of these poles is a nightmare when corrupted or if they go too far.
