We’re launching Nostrich Core soon, a separate Nostr app built for freedom maximalists without the extras. The current Nostrich app will continue to grow with new features designed to compete with X, Instagram, TikTok, and beyond. image

NFTs, prediction markets, and many other new features are still coming to the current Nostrich, while Nostrich Core will stay focused on Nostr essentials.
Sorry to hear that, Kitty! Relay operators have that power, details depending on which relay server software they use. Web of Trust in the Amethyst client also hides anyone blocked by 5+ people you follow. Its a controversial feature, but it saves a lot of work
Other problem: @Nostrich has no way to boot followers. These jackasses can attach themselves to you, fool you into following back, then abuse you. There is no way to get rid of them in your followers list. I don't even know what the report note button does and I don't like snitching anyway.
Respect for not snitching, but you're not reporting them to some central authority, you're only reporting them to those of us who follow you. Your reports are useful to *us* so our clients can know who to auto-mute. I have had numerous annoying bot followers designed to drive engagement away. I report them, some of my followers report them, and then suddenly they're auto-muted for everyone in my network :) At least for everyone using a client that mutes based on reports
I think there's a human there, maybe more than one. I don't mind - explaining how reports work helps lurkers as well as followers. And leaving valid complaints unanswered makes it look to newcomers like our community doesn't care. We do, and there are many moderation features in use
Imagine what Asa Akira's timeline would look like after a few years on here. Sure I can mute them. The peanut gallery can see all the hate I don't. When we coded original Twitter in San Francisco back in the day we built blocking code that wipes cretins off curated timelines. It's not impossible to do.
The concern with such features is abuse. If we had them, some hater would have already used them to block *you*. Big corporate social media (partly) prevents this by having teams of bots and sometimes humans verify complaints. Nostr can't do this (well, maybe we do a little at the individual relay-operator level, its helpful to choose good relays). I felt concern for the "peanut gallery" at first, just as you do. "What if they're seeing all the haters' posts, and I'm not able to debunk them?" But I found feeding the trolls only encouraged them, and then Vitor introduced (in Amethyst) auto-muting based on reports from friends in your Web of Trust. IDK exactly how many clients share this feature now, but it means only really recent newcomers following you have to deal with the trash, nearly everyone else's client automutes them without seeing it. So yeah, we do wipe people off curated timelines, its just that the curation is crowdsourced from your friends, depends on your reports, and doesn't work for really fresh newcomers. I'm sure we will find even better tools in future
You think ASA Akira doesn't get bombarded by reply guys on the rest of the internet? That's hilarious. No they have AI filters sweeping content trying to make it a safe space. The internet was never meant to be a safe place. You want freedom, you have to allow posts you don't like. You'd think a supposed expert content farm manipulator like yourself would have figured that out already. (Suspect that there anything resembling a human being behind this account anyway) so anyway take your bot manipulation somewhere else and shove it.
You may attract a better class of haters and reply-bots than me. Mine were actually very boring, and any follower with any sense would have manually muted them even without my reports :D Report, mute, and move on
Either nostr ups it's game in re online abuse of women or female entertainers won't post on here. That's why the incels do it: they hate women and want us out of "their" spaces. It's that simple. It's a coding problem that is easily solved. Ask Jack Dorsey. Have a nice day.
I don't give a fuck what Jack Dorsey thinks, he didn't make this shit for starters. Keep name dropping though, maybe people will believe you are a person of relevance.
They hate everyone, Kitty - even the most boring and male-presenting account gets stalkers & haters. You get more, and I'm sorry about that. Protecting your eyes and your peace of mind is easier than ever, with reports and mutes. Women and female entertainers just need to use the report button. Their friends and followers, too. Any coding solution that effortlessly silences all your haters *will* be used to silence you - look at Jack Dorsey's Twitter/X today...
I don't mind being decisively blocked by haters on a platform, which is what a client is. Block and be blocked. I have been active in the XBIZ.NET community since 2015 and I have led the movement to get entertainers on Nostr. They experience unblockable hatred on their timelines and leave. No woman will accept a situation like this. Let haters roam Nostr freely fine. But the client that institutes HARD BLOCKS to stop it will get all the entertainment business in the future. Gentlemen do not let cretins roam freely.
Half the engagement on the internet is content like Kitty's, or more explicit. You don't have to like it, but Nostr is for these people too. We are safer from censorship together. Ain't freedom grand? Don't waste your freedom on engaging with content you don't like.
Gentlemen block and report cretins every day, I promise. And I do appreciate your efforts to broaden the community and bring new content creators aboard. Kitty, I'm just thinking aloud here, but what if your friends had their own, highly curated relay, for when they initially join? They would gain little or no reach or commercial engagement in such a crowded pool, but they could learn the interface and follow other girls. *Then* they could add other relays, full of both haters and potential followers, and be somewhat protected by the other girls' reports. This would complicate your outreach, I know
I am a free speech absolutist (laugh now). I actually support the right of incels to degrade women. And the right of posters to curate their own timeline via hard blocks to exclude them into the void that is nostrland. The right of the religious to block my nasty ass off their timeline and feeds. It all comes down to Dodge City: freedom has limits best enforced at the user level at the moment of attack. I don't want Marshall Dillon drilling incels for me. I want the tools to do it myself. If I get mad enough, I will write a client myself. @npub1t5u3...j4c2
You can use some tools like web of trust and sharing broader blocking information (npubs, tags, etc.) but there are very few cases where 1 person can unilaterally prevent everyone else from seeing a third party's posts. They have always got to opt-in. This is by design, as doing otherwise is antithetical to the very concept of how nostr works. As I understand it, fundamentally at a conceptual level, a note is *not* the equivalent of starting a forum thread. Replies to a note just indicate what they are in response to, and the software bundles together all things that do so in that specific way. The structure for receiving notifications for your is more like subscribing to anyone talking about an event in a way the software registers. The advantages to this are that bad actors are vulnerable. They are unable to prevent others from directly discussing what they post. This includes people who do in the replies - someone commenting negative things cannot simply block others to make it seem like their negging is unchallenged by hiding retorts, corrections, etc. #aubreykunyap
