A Bitchat like app _without_ the chat, to push people to talk in real life: let the user to set some topics (e.g. nostr, bitcoin, pizza, weird-interest...), notify when two users with common topics approach each other, showing a personalized description to be identifiable ("yellow tshirt and sunglasses").

nostr:nprofile1qqsd54k9fd0xwjwkttgr3svkg7reftu5una95nhacg95nxq7fmzkdscppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0z349jsis tinder for Bitcoiners.
Unfortunately, trust would be required from the outset. In this world, such an app would be used as a tool to target individuals with "unacceptable opinions".
#single topic is absolutely valid!
Fair concern. Just use generic topic and then expose the unacceptable opinion by voice, if it's the case.
vibe it

So Nostr over mesh network?... yeah that's @KoalaSat 's Samiz

What does that name mean?
Bluetooth Low Energy I would guess.
How do you get that from samiz
Ah, sorry, just saw the big "BLE mesh" and thought that was the name. Shame on me

This is it man. This is the million dollar idea. I want this so so badly. If you're very specific with your topics, it would be so so much easier to find people with common interest in this pool of 8 billion people. I mean really could transform society and how we meet new people.

Yes, basically p2p tinder without the servers in between alerting you when someone interesting is near you.
Same as a dating thing or as a friend making thing. On a busy train station theres thousands of people I walk past and not a single one do I know if I have anything in common with. I hope it gets made and gets popular.
It might but its up to you what you put in the app. If its truly mainstream as a privacy friendly tinder alternative I don't see it being an issue. If your putting all kinds of dissenting topics in there in a country that polices for those your a target yes.
People can start meeting people in real life again instead of online or having to go to a bar. You never know who you're walking past.
Problem is that it became culturally unacceptable to do that. So having an app alert to those nearby that you do want to get in touch is an interesting solution.
The beta is ready, test it:
It's ready!
Bitalk: connect and talk face-to-face with interesting people around you who share the same interests as you, using cutting-edge Bluetooth mesh networking!
Bitalk is in beta stage, I need to fine-tune the UI&UX a bit, but it should work pretty well already. Test it and give back feedback!

Nice!
Heres my findings from 1 minute of ussge.
Most topics are tech focused, needs an input field that allpws typing with an auto complete with a large list of topics. If you then have them categorised you can offer the more generic ones to. For example not just music but every genre. Would make for a more personalized onboard. I can do it after the fact and manually, but not during onboarding and onboarding is important.
It says describe yourself as in apperance but I think thats the wrong approach. You should describe your personality, that way you can first chat and get to know each other a little before sharing over chat where you are and who you are.
Once onboarded I was stuck on pause.
As to why chat first? You don't want to put people in danger from people abusing the app. It helps verify if you wish that stranger to approach which will make it feel safer. Those who do want cold approaches can put it in the same description. So functionality is right, but the prefill box is wrong if you decide adding p2p chat is a good idea.
The topic proposal / customization needs some improvements for sure. There is also the multi language issue to manage. Adding a large list suggestion to the custom topics is a good idea.
It's not for all, but the whole idea is to let people approach you only on the basis of common interest, to have a face to face talk, a chat is contrary to this logic. Btw, if you are a short distance (< 30 meters), does chatting makes really sense?
I have not tried it yet but I was also thinking of a setting that you could choose to get notified when someone is around you that has (x) same topics as you.
The notification is already present:

No I mean a new setting. Right now It notifies if any topics match. A setting to change that to say, must have 2 topics in common to notify. Or 3 or 4..
No, it notifies only if there are topics in common!
(unless there are bugs)
You are misunderstanding me... I'm not asking a question. I'm making a suggestion for a new setting.
Actually, I don't understand the suggestion :)
Can you explain it again, please?
Current functionality: Notifies you when someone is near that shares a similar or exact topic as you.
Feature: add setting to increase the threshold for being notified from 1 exact or partial match to 2 or more exact or partial matches.
Say I have my notification threshold at 2, now I'll only get a notification if someone has at least 2 topics in common with me.
I got it!
It seems doable, I will evaluate it.
Thanks.
I got it btw. Tested it out. Looks good so far. I'll know more when the wife gets home and we can really test
It does matter in highly crowded environments. Think a big central station. This tech is mesh so you have to find someone in the same hall.
It's an absolutely legitimate use!
🤔
Great way to get wrench attacked. 🤯🔧
People have other interests than Bitcoin, really! 😅
