I'm pretty bad at explaining things to 10 people, but pretty good at explaining things to 100,000 people. I don't know why.

1 to many is a rare rare skill
I think with larger groups there's some osmosis of understanding happening while you talk.

Interesting. Never tried 100k, but my ability to speak coherently is very situational. Wish i knew why/how to put myself in the right environments
I was facing this until I understood that big crowds create a healthy distance that puts you in performance-mode. lowering the sense of personal pressure. Smaller groups can feel more intimate especially if it’s a different audience leading to my self-awareness or fear of immediate judgment. Knowing you ok pods, your storytelling and structure work at any scale. For small settings, treat them like micro-audiences: prep like you usually do, embrace the pauses it will reflect confidence, and visualize them as part of your camera. You will own both. You rock!

I’m the exact opposite. Takes all kinds. You’ve impacted more people, though.

Because ten people start asking questions?
How are you determining the quality of your explaining? What variables are you measuring/sensing? I could help you figuring the why(s).

Maybe the 100,000 are more receptive to your message? image
When I listen to you, it feels like you’re directly speaking to me, not 100k, and I understand what you’re saying 👌🏻… most of the time 😁
it’s more awkward to imagine 10 people wearing just their underwear than it is to imagine 100,000 people just wearing their underwear

In what ways are you bad, and in what ways are you good? 🤔 We can gain some insight from your reply.

You’re an engineer who is good at realizing economies of scale…You know why.
Im the same. 1 v 1, good 1 v 10, not good 1 v 100, good Theres something about a small group that can devolve.
For me its rather the opposite. I am very good at explaining things to individuals or smaller groups of people though I doubt I can do 100k or even 10k at once. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is very easy to explain, in a small group you have eye contact with each individual, which makes you a little more nervous, plus everyone could interrupt you and throw you off track, the biggest difficulty in speaking in front of a group of 10,000 people is the first moment of overcoming

maybe the 100,000 people came to learn while the 10 came for other reasons

You’re basically Congress - ineffective in committee but somehow passing trillion-dollar budgets no one fully understands.

Lol I was about to comment the same (fellow autist here no shade)
Thankfully now everything will be very efficient - our dear Leader and a couple of his friends will decide everything for us, and all who disagree will be sent to a gulag in El Salvador. Democracy and decentralization are slow and expensive Authoritarian governments are the way to go. And just like the "cheap and fast" centralized shitcoins, the US government will now benefit only the oligarchs in charge.

What does that even mean? How can you be sure of that? Did you survey 100,000 people? This sounds like humblebragging. There's no need to have such low self-esteem.
