I've heard a lot of both sides so I don't know who to believe at this point, a lot of people say they were as*holes and deserved what they got, others say they didn't and must be free, I don't know. I guess I'll sign it anyway because I support freedom tech even if this case it was bad.
They wrote code that helped people coordinate transactions to preserve 4th amendment and 5th amendment rights in the digital age. Fincin said they were not doing anything illegal because they did never took custody of anyone's Bitcoin. They were prosecuted anyway. Were they assholes? Yeah. Did they say some dumb shit about enemies of the United States? Aldo yes, but writing code should be protected under the first amendment of the United States Constitution. The problem is that the Bill of Rights has been eroded to the point where the Anti Fedralists have been proven right. This is not TDS. This is the culmination of 80 years of assault on civil liberty in the United States.
100% agree, thanks for that, I gotta look further into this case, I want to know more.

Basically how I feel about Ross Ulbricht. Like he 100% is not exactly a good guy but I don’t think he deserved the sentence he ended up getting. I’m glad he’s free though but the dude 100% was a drug kingpin

Fully support your effort but sorry to say change.org is likely rigged. DYOR

Your intentions are good of course. However change.org is not what you think. Just check out their CEO B. Rattray a member of the 'Commonwealth Club of California' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_Club_of_California. Club founders were Bank of America, Wells Fargo and so on. Also main sponsor of change.org is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OmidyarNetwork which is in turn a supporter of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Than_Cash_Alliance a key project of agenda 2023 aka. SDG, aka. Great Reset. This is all just open Wikipedia information so you can dig much deeper. Anyway keep fighting but know everything is rigged at this point.

Today it's them, tomorrow it could be us. I'm committing to donating at least half a month's paycheck to support Bill and Keonne's legal defense. These developers didn't create tools to harm anyone - they built privacy technology to protect users. They paid the price so we could stay secure. If we don't stand up for them, we're saying that developers who build privacy tools are fair game. That's a dangerous precedent for all of us. This isn't just about Samourai - it's about the future of digital freedom. I'll keep fighting for it.

I mostly hadn’t signed it because I don’t think things like this do anything but I eventually did sign it on principle. Trump knows about it. Hopefully it gets pardoned…but then they still have the conviction on the books and the precedent…
The Japanese-speaking community on nostr is the best community here, they don't talk about the same boring stuff as the english-speaking community. But I was responding to the note in English about the petition. They are not going to be reading that note (well I'm guessing most aren't). I think they stick to themselves pretty much. Power to them.
