They think you are a magician, of course you are.
“How do you justify debasement?” Until they wrestle with that 101 question, there is no point in attempting any more advanced

I recently hit a solid milestone in my BTC journey. My wife downplayed it saying “Wow you’ve been at it for a while, it doesn’t seem like much.” It was like a knife in my gut. My fucking kingdom for one person that “gets it”. Hours of doing what seems like graduate level math figuring out what I can do to stack like a psychopath and still keep us afloat. The sinking feeling in my stomach realizing that my time preference game needed improvement. The peace of knowing I’ve done it with a solid allocation and security/succession model, and can weather a storm. I don’t care if I have to look like a retard for 355 days out of the year. Because I am. But I’m a nice retard that cares about their family’s future.
I told my wife I was going to start buying btc. She was like "okay". She doesn't want to be involved in the finances and that's fine with me. I was DCAing like a maniac. One day I mentioned we were all in on btc. She wasn't mad, but she was surprised. She thought I meant I was going to buy once. For a second she felt as if I had told her I gambled everything on red at the casino. When I explained how much we had in unrealized gains she relaxed. Then I told her I'm not selling for fiat. That this is generational wealth and that we'll use it as currency when needed. She's still not super happy with the "I'm not selling" part. She doesn't know what bitcoin really is and she is not interested in learning.

Hey. I dont know how big is your stack but there are so much options out there. Just test it and read with care, if you have any doubt, just post it again
and be really careful with timing and utxo size / management if you're going to go through liquid, monero or LN (make sure you come back to the main chain to a fresh wallet for example) timing and size correlation is how they get you. ashigaru is great if it's a not-trivial amount.
I have a brand new wallet I bought for this. I just haven't had the time to look into doing any reseach yet. I imagine I shouldn't send the same amount I receive, but send it in chunks of different values that eventually don't end up adding up to the same amount that left my original wallet. My stack is not trivial to me, but it's not an amount that would allow me to retire.

Thinking is ghetto. Either that's really smart or really stupid.
explaining Bitcoin to family is mostly watching someone try to download a song onto a toaster. the gap between mental models is the real friction, not the tech. what metaphor finally clicked for them, or are they still in the "where do i put the coins" phase?
