Did you come to Nostr as a non-bitcoiner? What brought you here, where did you learn of it? What made you stay? #asknostr

Being out there on networks with greater reach is important for creators looking to bring more users to Nostr. People such as @Jor and @Isa ⚡️ getting the word out to people who have never heard of Nostr is valuable. Nostr only is a nice thing to strive for, but realistically a combined approach is better for growth, both for the creators and Nostr. #grownostr

I came here as with no previous bitcoin (or shitcoin) knowledge of exposure. I learned of it from Twitter, specifically jack & Edward Snowden posting about it. I came for the freedom aspect, having been given the Twitter banhammer a few times too many. The community and amount of real interaction made me stay, in addition to the great learning opportunity for bitcoin.

I can’t really say I was a Bitcoiner. I knew very little about Bitcoin but I always thought it was something amazing and was eager to learn more. Most of what I’ve learned has been through Nostr. The main reason I came here is because, in Turkiye, we face a lot of censorship and when Elon Musk bought Twitter, it only got worse. I’ve stayed on Nostr because it feels like the kind of change I want to see on the internet. It genuinely gives me hope. Plus, Nostr is full of smart, creative, and kind people.
1. i wasn't really interested in this platform from a bitcoin perspective, though i was interested in bitcoin over a decade ago (with a renewed interest now that i have been on nostr) 2. i often search about decentralized/FOSS softwares, hardware, and protocols; so i found it just by searching about FOSS social media 3. in general, everyone on here is nice & genuine
I came to Nostr for the censorship resistance. Nostr reawoken the Bitcoin fanaticism that I already had.
It wasn't a foreign concept. I'd been using Linux and SSH since the early 2000's, and had been using keypairs for quite some time, so that part of Nostr made sense to me 💯

I have been buying Bitcoin since 2017. I saw a notice about Nostr pretty soon after it was launched, but couldn't figure it out. Then Primal launched, and it was easy enough to figure it out.
Joined as a Bitcoiner, stayed because #Nostr feels like home real people, real freedom, global connections, free speech, and #zaps that cross borders in seconds ⚡🧡
I'm not a fan of fedcoins, NOSTR is the only decentralized network that I see working across the next centuries.
I like that no one owns the protocol, I like the chronological (ish) feed, I like that we can choose different algos, I like that clients have to compete for users I like that there are more deep/critical thinkers I like the ⭕
I had a really weird experience and noticed algorithm manipulation in my feed and then the voices in my head told me I had to GTFO NOW NOW NOW so now I am on Nostr exclusively and a Bitcoin maxi and cannot relate to anyone at all anymore 🤣 The friends on the other side approve of Nostr, so you all got that going for you! 👻👼🧙‍♀️
