I wonder how badly governments need to lose the "war on drugs" before they give up As far as I can tell, after nearly 60 years, the harder they try, the more drugs and overdoses society gets Perhaps a different approach is in order

It’s a war to get people on drugs, that’s why we perceive it as a loss, for them it’s a win.
If you ever get the chance, read, "Chasing the Scream", tells you an awful lot on the subject. I've read a lot of literature on the drug scene/issue and that is by far and away, the best.
It’s intentional, whatever the handlers are instructing governments to do
You are assuming that winning is the goal. As with all government programs, the goal is to have an organization that requires ever more funding. If, after all, the war on drugs was won, then a lot of gov workers would lose their jobs.

They can't lose, as long as they can force the productive people to pay for it, which they can do indefinitely! Besides, it's been incredibly useful as an excuse to infringe many individual "#rights"! As long as they can collect " #taxes " directly or through #inflation, they can't lose the "#War of #Drugs"!
I wonder how badly Americans need to lose the “war on humanity” before they see it. Purdue Pharma made the deal with the Supreme Court that paid $10000 a head. Only when the addict had already died. I did the math. 🧮 That is what they paid. Sackler family who owns company can’t be sued personally. Gross 🤢 I could go on but it’s bad.
Kindly and I mean this kindly … I’ve done a **lot** of work with addicts. If you’re anywhere in the USA 🇺🇸… ask anyone in health care about how bad the opioid epidemic is. No longer work in a government capacity. Even volunteering & donating money to non-profits to help addicts comes with a LOT of stress when seeking government assistance for doing so. That said: IF you have a different level of expertise … PLEASE 🙏 I’m all ears
