Zapping a note to buy wine isn't just novel. It's powerful. There are maybe 10 people in the world running their business this way. Does it give us an edge? Yes. When you're paying for something in Bitcoin, the apex asset, you'd ideally want to try it before you buy it. But Bitcoiners aren't clustered in the same places, so most Bitcoin commerce happens online. That means very little opportunity to sample. You need social proof. And there's no stronger signal than seeing someone zap a note to pay for an order. If someone in your web of trust is willing to spend Bitcoin on a product, it's probably worth your time too. That zap is a purchase and an endorsement in one. It's a signal to everyone watching that it was worth the sats. It also puts pressure on the seller. That sale is public. Everyone knows someone trusted you with Bitcoin. Don't take that lightly. Not every sale will happen like this, but the ones that do? They give you something priceless. Revenue that also works as marketing. Your best customers are linking their reputation to yours. You don’t have to ask for a review. They already gave you one. Zaps-as-purchases are rare today. They're hard to earn. But they are absolutely the most valuable. @buzzbot 10000 image

Agree. Watching commerce grow here will be really cool and unique, but it's crazy early
If you sell products in Bitcoin, I’d post how many sats each product is in your bio with a note to zap any post with those unique amounts.

The problem I have with using Zaps as purchases is that most products are either US-only or come with ridiculously high shipping costs.

So that needs to be transparent up front for any business trying to get those zap sales
I like the idea of zapping to pay for something/and seeing it delivered. I'd like more private ways to receive post though.

Can you explain the privacy request more? Just want to fully understand
In general, not just with Nostr. I would like to have an anon P.O. box where I can pay for it with sats and stuff gets delivered there and I have a QR to unlock the safe.
@Laser any thoughts here on best practices? Is there a way to keep identify from shipping address now and is there an opportunity for a NOSTR app to protect this?
No such system exists at the moment that makes this easy or even possible at any realistic scale. PO boxes aren't it.
Ok thank you. It's a good problem worth thinking about. It seems like you have to go outside of traditional fiat post altogether. Please keep us posted if you think of anything that is worth trying or testing.

Personally would reccomend selling with free shipping or flat rate shipping. I (@Ben Justman🍷) offer free shipping on 6+ bottles to make it more seamless

Very true. And your reputation is everything. You have to provide a quality product. No room in this space for cutting corners, and having a fiat mindset that urges you to do so. Bitcoin will bring back true quality goods.

I have had a few btc and monero people switch to signal or proton after zap or invoice payment. Then give a proxy address. (friend or private business they know) They seem comfortable with a little extra work for privacy.

Goal was to bury it below the fold. Buzzbot is a gimmick if you want it to be, but you can use it in a judicious way. I'm happy to provide people incentive to interact with posts, but I'm not really interested in random interactions from people who don't even read the post

Great note! I’d love to see this happen more often.
If you are in a country that has Inpost lockers, you can use made up info. Provide the seller with the address of your preferred drop box anddisposable email. No ID required for pickup, just a qr code sent to that email
