Bitcoiners love to dunk on Ethereum bozos for using cloud hosting for most of their nodes, clearly not looking at where a majority of the Lightning nodes and liquidity is running.
BRO JUST RUN IT ON A RASPBERRYPI4 BRO.
AWS has been angry most of the morning.
Oh that. Yes? I didnβt think about that affecting anyoneβs personal node because mine is in my basement.
I got my Refurbished dell for like $75-100
Self sovereignty isn't on a cloud...
Most Lightning nodes are on AWS and other cloud providers. Just like Ethereum. Bros in centralized places π€π»
Yeah, running on an old desktop or laptop is infinity better than a raspberry pi.
The 9-5 has been hit hard this morning with our systems all being down for the Europe teams
YEAH MAYBE BUT EVEN A SHITTY RASPERBRRY PI 4 WORKS COMPARED TO AWS LOL.
It's kind of sad to see really, especially since Bitcoiners love to shit on Ethereum Bros for too much cloud usage.
My node was fine π
THEM: but what if they ban Bitcoin?
ME: In order to effect a ban on Bitcoin, they would have to take down the entire Internet.
THEM: you were saying...
ME: π
Old pc is the way to go. Laptops even have a battery so it's like a built in UPS.
My lightning node is even pruned and the drive is just what came with it. 250-500 GB but I don't even remember b/c it doesn't matter.
running a node in your home mostly fixes this :)
my node is fine too :)
Yes - with regard to AWS going down. Of course, in the unlikely event that 'they' actually took down the entire Internet, it would be a different story.
Is it that time of the year to upload the AWS fud?
Source? I made it up. Provide sauce or context my guy.

Is that even possible?
Also, this is why prepping is an appropriate "handcuff" to Bitcoin.
Yeah, but ETH runs its first layer on it, while Bitcoinβs LN is just a second layer β and itβs centralized by design π€·π»ββοΈ
Iβd be happier (and LN would be healthier) if everyone ran their own node β but weβre making progress.
Possible; but, not really plausible, IMO (except for maybe incidentally as a result of nuclear war or something like that).
Regardless, 'prepping' for it means a lot more than just running a node.
