We thought Google hit rock bottom with #privacy. Its new beta feature on Google Files for #Android called “Smart Search" is the trap door. This creepy new feature on by default & scans every file on your phone. Why is this bad? Because it could potentially ruin your life. (1/3)

Horrible Thanks for letting us know Please post this again, as a reminder, once this is live, not beta anymore I have just checked and I don't see this option yet I wonder if Google is going to make it a default and automatically turn on for everyone on app upgrade If they do, I'd find it horrific and might accelerate my plans to degoogle

This is also enabled in your account Search Settings by default (Privacy & Safety), not only the Files app.

GM Shiny Apple device users who are outraged by Google having the option to do this. Reminder Apple said they were going to do the same thing without an option to turn it off then supposedly walked it back. @npub1mea2...qane I am already using grapheneOS and trying to avoid to use google. But your android app is not able to make notification without google services. So I am checking emails manually for now :-(

i use tutanota for all emails and it works great. So proton mail can for sure make it work without google serivces on grapheneos
