Nostr is really the place where you can just do things, and boy can it keep you busy.
Following an incredible 3 day convergence event and hackathon hosted by @And Other Stuff, I’ve been busy building tools to empower communities on nostr.
Together with the team at Brainstorm, we are building a decentralized community protocol that allow communities to define their own rules, vouch for their own members, and survive inactive founders.
Our protocol allows anyone with an npub to publish a Community Declaration event that other npubs can subscribe to (or modify and fork as they see fit). Membership is managed with tags, whereby any member in the community can attest to a newcomer. The Community Declaration defines the rules for what those tags mean (how many vouches, from whom, carrying how much trust), and what kind of roles they amount to.
Any community's dynamic “roster” can then be computed by any client by gathering those tags and interpreting them against the Community Declaration. No administrative burden, no centralized database, no single point of failure.
I’m building out our first use case now for @Les Femmes Orange. So far, I’ve built an app that implements native, tag-based membership and attestations + new-to-noster friendly sign-in. Right now, we are building support for community content tags (WIP). Imagine: A feed that is fully curated by people in your trusted community, filterable by interest area. Community calendars scoped to sub-communities. In-app private message groups on nostr. All configurable, totally decentralized, and secure.
We are designing infrastructure that reflects how communities thrive in the real world — not as gated databases, but as living social webs of trust.
@Les Femmes Orange is the first user, but certainly not the last.

awesome. i think it's something like this repeated a bunch of times for people's communities that makes nostr scale.
@Анкап-тян what do you think about it: is it true (deal-based) anarchy? will they gain success or fail?
When we started the @Les Femmes Orange movement in 2022, little did we dream where the journey might take us. Awesome work @Gabrielle Frei and team @vinney...axkl @Avi Burra @david, and so honoured that we get to be the guinea pigs for this fantastic community tool. @Tanja @Nicole Nowak and the1000+ other femmes orange. Decentralized is the way forward. For money. For communications. For communities.
