Nostr has helped me break unhealthy social media habits, and has reoriented my view of online social interactions in a more constructive and positive way.

I’m part of the way there, still trying to figure Nostr out.
I agree. Much less addiction and I think it’s because of the lack of algorithms
Me too, but I still slip occasionally. Far less often that I used to though. It was essentially constant before I went Nostr only.
💯
The way of being the best shitposter on nostr ⚠️💜🫂
I think that’s a big part of it

Fuck yes you are not weird and online all the time at all.
#Nostr is genuine engagement. Legacy social media was just for the likes and shares

🤣 just a reflection of my real life demeanor lol
Other social media make you perform to appease the algorithm just so you can be seen. It’s so unnatural and inhuman.
Same
^
but i wuv wou!
Agreed. Using it to take a break from X cause it’s Algo is all how much drama and bs it can feed you.
I know. I left 2 years ago for good and got sick of it like 5 ago definitely. It's for junkies. Unfortunately it's creating junkies tremendously.
🤝
And its orange pilling my wife without me shouting about economic black holes and sovereign individuals.
🔥🔥🔥
Same. 🫂
Ditto
It’s much easier without (nearly as many) shitcoiners and statists.
Im on detox too. Going full degoogle phone with GraphenOS simultaneously. Serious withdrawal side effects. Feel lost without being run by algos. Getting back to running my own thinking.

This isn't a meme
Nostr brought your meme art to the next level. Everything else doesn’t matter
I feel you 🫂
Yes, I have never liked social media-until I was introduced to Primal. Nostr is AWESOME!🤩
I need one meme please, this is serious post
righttt
Bahaha, my husband is like that. But I orangepilled him. Plot twist👹
1000%
X is great simply because it helped unveil the censorship to the masses. It was only a conspiracy theory before that
But wandering around X too long will quickly help you realize the world truly is in shambles. Ingesting that pessimism constantly is not good for our peace of mind
In comes Nostr. A healthy dose of human social interaction revolving around shared values, #bitcoin.
Now that is something I want to continue to be a part of!
Thanks Elon for paving the way to restoring our cemented First Amendment rights but Im here for Nostr!!!
You should get a nostr badge for that.
Nostr really shows the power of a decentralized, authentic online space. Cheers to healthier social media habits!
Me too! 💯 I have a completely different view of social media now.
Perhaps you could even say I can see it for what it might be, unburdened by what it was...
Same! Can I ask, what was the most unhealthy habit you've broken?
just one meme plz ser
how so exactly?
it's so calm in here .🧡💜
Nostr feels more “human.” It has made my online interactions, positive and negative, feel more in parallel to my in-person interactions with people. I’m not force fed particular topics or people. I open an app and simply pick up with whatever my network is talking about in the moment. Once a conversation is over or gone, I only see it again if someone I follow engages with it and I happen to be online at that time.
I grew up before social media, and when social networking became a thing, I remember early networks had a similar vibe to nostr, minus the interoperability between apps of course. But it was mainly just people connecting with people, being goofy, chatting, sharing info, etc. It felt more in the moment, and raw/real.
Over the years “social” networks have become more and more impersonal, less about connecting with each other, and more about getting engagement and manipulating what users do and don’t see. It’s all about advertising, performance to get noticed and build a brand, manipulation of your feed/timeline to push certain topics/people/ideas. You are driven less to interact with people in your social circles, and more to interact with whatever their algos push in front of you. It feels fake and manipulative.
Nostr doesn’t feel that way. I hope that continues to be the case.
Nostr makes me question if I’m even alive. Is this thing even on? 💀
What about this new feed market ? Custom algos…🧐
This is the reason why I use Nostr at all. It's just barely a good form of social media. Just needs a little more humane design and *optional* dark patterns people are so used to they think they are good features. Like the infinite scroll without stopping cues for example.
I’ve heard the idea talked about and believe it has merit but I have yet to see any actually produced and in use.
Largely concur. Still enjoy a little antagonism though.
Winning 🥇
THIS. Respect the honesty 😂
How so? and why do you think that happened?
lol now I’m reading the comments. No need to answer 🫡
Apparently it’s shipping soon on primal
lol cool. Was offline most of the evening so just going back through my notifications now. Yea that answer to jack said a lot of it. Just in general I feel like nostr has to lead to more authentic human interactions, versus on other social media where I feel like it’s a constant performance to get noticed and constant manipulation to engage with certain topics/accounts.
Yes 🫂
Hey I’m just getting back through some of these notifications. The most unhealthy habit that has changed for me is probably the amount of time and energy I would waste on other social media with no real purpose. You open IG or TikTok and start scrolling and easily an hour or so goes by completely wasted, and in that time you get sucked emotionally into issues and topics that have no relevance to your own life. I get on nostr and may post something fun or serious, or reply to some people, or check what is new from my follows and then I close it and get on with the rest of my day. Some days it’s open more than others, depending what I’m doing, but the dynamic is just different. More human/natural.

In an environment controlled by the algorithm, intentionality is lost.
Consciousness is literally alienated. It becomes estranged from itself, in a sense stronger than that anticipated by Marx.
Because now it is not in the product that consciousness is lost, but rather before indulging in the luxury of production. It is a kind of a priori alienation.
The strangest thing is realizing that only those who have had the opportunity to spend some time outside the controlled environment know this.
Nostr x Twitter

No rush to respond. Which sums up your point nicely! Thank you for the lengthy explanation.
Opening up Nostr is more like email, before gmail lead us all to a gamified and addictive competitive mess
You've got messages, from people you actually want replies from
The YT shorts were what used to get me
Just before bed
The WORST
So glad I dont do that any longer...
Well look forward to learning lots more together!
Hi Corindalorian,
I agree with you because I left X/Twitter on the other day and seems helped me going away from those chaos. Hence, NOSTR, Matodon, and BSKY are the better approach away from all those mess and philosophical illegal stuff that brainwashes that much. Anyways, welcome to the universe; or should I say, welcome to the fediverse.
