Nostr adoption will be like Linux adoption, and that's OK. There are no negatives with being purists. It's the only way the real option gets built.
Walker is absolutely right, 10cents zap will be great zap! It's like. $10 in future terms 😄 (Or more...🤔 👀 😏)
Really? Never been easier? You need like a course to wade through all this. Go with Breez. Wait they are in maintenance mode now. Mutiny shut down. Blue not for lightning anymore. Oh, and this was after trying to learn how with great, but old and lengthy, BTC Sessions videos (hats off to Ben for at least trying to teach all this time and to Daniella for her trying now). For a true BTC libertarian type how many privacy minded, open source, and self-custody options are there now. Especially for the Google boycotters - many require Google Play & FCM for notifications. Zeus seems great but the average person is still not going to set up a server. I've been trying hard to find the right setup, but not there yet. Oh, and as you pointed out this past week, AI bots are taking over and zapping for you and others? So who are we tipping? A person or a bot? Not good. You, Walker, etc are doing great work and are appreciated. But when you rant and complain about zaps I gotta rant back about why it really isn't as easy as you suggest. For real techies maybe. Not mainstream though. Most of the Gen Z and Millenials I know and not interested in putiing the time into the learning curve especially when wallets come and go or get raided still. Sorry I just wasted a week trying to set things up, but in vain.
From lumo: "According to the Minibits Wallet GitHub repository, the wallet supports real-time, encrypted push notifications for incoming payments, but this feature is currently limited to Android devices only and is delivered through Google's notification system (i.e., Firebase Cloud Messaging) when the app is installed from Google Play." The digital I'd system will be very easy / convenient. 😤

Great episode! When @ODELL mentioned that being a young father caused him to think in terms of generations, it caused me to pause and consider how having children causes a mental shift in how we view the future. I often hear about the declining birth rate in the USA, but is the birth rate really declining? In today's world, we must verify, so I used #AskBrave to see what's happening with births in the USA. According to the answers I received, the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is at a historic low. To capture the overall trend, I looked at the TFR for each decade, starting in 1955 and ending in 2025. The chart below shows the results. image How does this relate to Odell's comment? If fewer people are having children, then maybe fewer people are thinking in terms of generations? Similar to how inflation causes instant satisfaction to take precedence over delayed gratification, does the desire to remain childless result in a higher emphasis on the self and reduce the importance of considering how decisions today will affect future generations? When combining a strong focus on the self with a currency that continues to loose purchasing power, it helps provide context to the "IT'S MY LIFE, and I WANT IT NOW" attitude prevalent in our society today. After all, if your money is worth less tomorrow, and you don't have an investment in future generations, what else is there but the ME and NOW. Let me know your thoughts.
Boomers had lots of children, but they sure had their share of self focus. As a whole they did not leave a great future for their children. Contrast that with the generation before them who went through wars and the depression. Hard times make better people and I think having a child gives you something really meaningful to fight for during the hard times.
After listening to @walker and @ODELL, I finally preordered a @Start9 router (sovereignly and without permission using my locally hosted lightning node on my #Start9 to pay for it in #bitcoin). I’ve listened to @Matt Hill describe and explain the value of sovereign hardware that doesn’t spy on you, but I’ve procrastinated joining the router crowdfunding campaign. This is important if you choose Freedomtech over the Panopticon. Join the 5% that will be using sovereign money, hardware, and FOSS. Preorder yours today!
