Listening to this talk I think explains a lot about Alex Gleason's perspective on Nostr. I'm at the part right now where Alex says that the key difference between email and Nostr is that Nostr will create the services that people want using AI. However it seems to me that the service people want is email... That's why people use it. I don't see how using AI to vibe code up a bunch of extra features would have prevented the Gmail monopoly.
the intro clip was alex’s recent talk at the oslo freedom forum, then we dive deeper into

Does someone have a link to this tool mentioned at 53:10 that lets me pay Claude usage with bitcoin?
Incredible episode, most useful one in a long time. Listened to it having a flow experience and am totally down for vibe coding now. Would love to hear more
I get mkstacks to work on my computer, and configured the LLM, but I have done like 5 attempts to create an application and every time it gets stuck close to the end, on some (to it seems) random thinking (screenshot). Like it kept running all night, and still did not advance. I feel like actually I am really close, like everything seems to be ready, but I cannot run the server yet. I feel like, If I knew a little more about coding I could do some two or three minor fixes and it would run. But if I stop and restart the stacks-agent, I tell him to see what is present, and finish the project, he starts modifying everything all over again. Like if anyone has some help, or can give me a sample prompt that should work for sure, so I can test it ? Any help appreciated. Can mkstacks run the server also ? Does it need some special permission to run npm, could that be why its stuck ? image
Okay it actually worked! I got my first application going with just a prompt. Unfortunaltely it did not do a nostr app, but just a 'normal' web-app with a complete backend, but that's already something! super exited to get going more. Thanks a lot. it is really cool. I am optimistic, that I can get going more now. home page image and here the recipe : image
OK another update: I did not add the stack in the directories when I started a new project, so it basically worked without the mkstack. I will redo it soon, and keep y'all updated PS: y'all == one lonely person who discovers this thread in five months
yes, thank you! I was just too quick to get going, and ran the command once, but then forgot about it in the following repos. I am just now running my first app with stacks correctly configured... ...and actually just got a the first result !!! It's actually totally incredible. There are still some bugs, but I am confident that my good companion mkstacks can fix them 😉 Hopefully I can deploy them soon 😃 image
Great episode. Gleason is top notch. Now if only I could get MKStacks to run. I really want to make a LCARS (the computer UI from Star Trek) style client but keep getting stuck. It's been as long time dream to bring the star trek computer to life and even better if it's a nostr client, right? I was thinking of calling it Subspace Feed. There is even an open source web template at www.thelcars.com which I assume would make it easier. I also have a fever right now and can barley think so that might be related to my lack of ability. I'll take another crack at it when I'm hallucinating less than an LLM. Maybe somebody else can bring it to life if I turn out to be too dense. Surely some other nostrich shares my dream.
Nope, actually looked for a cooking app, but didn't find one. But was thinking already that there must already be a cooking app somewhere...
I would suggest starting the project with the stacks command and mkstack. Make the initial prompt through it. Then you can use Cursor for further updates. It ships with a .cursorrules file to support it.

Started watching this rip today during my drives and learning a lot. There is so much packed into it and I’m only half way in. Looking forward to implementing a lot of this and using Nostrhub. View quoted note →
