Great one! Kenya is moving so far ahead in #bitcoin adoption!
Hey Joe, we’re drying mangos in Paraguay and Ethiopia using waste heat from our mining facilities, let me know if you ever want to take a look / share how we’re trying to develop systems that re use the heat we produce create jobs and BTC education to the communities that we work with. 🇵🇾🇪🇹💜🥭
Ok just because of this post i want to follow you
Honoured
Epic lurkage too btw 😉
Shoutout to the people who did the first ever bitcoin-to-mpesa bridges over a decade ago (Kipochi, Bitpesa, @bumi), but were shut down by Safaricom at the time!
I didn’t know this. Where can I find more?
Fck me that’s awesome. Obviously I wanna see that!! Possibly in February next year
Kenyans are just great people!
I met Pelle in Nairobi in 2013 or 14. Here's his account about Kipochi: https://blog.stakeventures.com/articles/what-actually-happened-at-kipochi
Bitpesa was shut down by Safaricom in the same year IIRC, but apparently turned into an exchange later: https://www.bitpesa.co/
@bumi and I were traveling around East Africa during that time frame, and he built a Telegram bot in order to pay for his own things with bitcoin and to demo how bridges could work.
Woo Yay 🙌 🥭🚀
damn, did that video pretty much exactly 10 years ago…

awesome!
This is 💯
Brilliant and so refreshing to see. A hand up rather than a hand out - in such a crazy world. Good work, to all involved. And great video, Joe! 👊🏻₿ 🧡
Oh wow, I've never seen the second one with the taxi driver. Unfortunately, I don't have a Vimeo account anymore, and somehow it's behind a login wall. Could you re-upload elsewhere perhaps?
hm, try it again it should work without login now.
I wish he would have just accepted the BTC back then.

Works! And it's much quicker and more concise than the other video. 👌
guess I did not think about the tik-tok age attention timespan back then when I did the video. 😉
this is some good memories though, but makes me wonder how far we came?
I might have arrived in a "maybe I should have just chilled at the beach" mode.
At least we don't do zero-conf txs for small payments anymore. That's a massive improvement.
Great video, nice work!
Here in Uganda there are some efforts going on but still very far behind #Kenya
the post in question
thanks again you lovely lot

Great film!
So true, it's the impoverished and the unbanked that this technology really shines bright for.
Another great episode @Joe Nakamoto

Blink Bitcoin wallet mostly!
Awesome video Joe! Really enjoyed it.
Do you think it would be possible to share the QR codes of the merchants you visit on screen for the viewers? For future videos 😃.
Tried some of them but they weren't in focus enough for my camera to pick up.
Thanks in advance!
They certainly need bitcoin there!
Did you know that Kenya is THE #bitcoin country of the World. You can live in #Kenya with bitcoin only.🇰🇪
