I think we should pay more attention to what @WendyDing and the yakihonne folks have done. It's a fantastic app that works really well. They've explored and moved around a bunch over the last couple of years, but they've also made yakihonne really solid. I notice that i'm shifting to using it as my go to app, which is funny, because i love my own nos.social, but on my desktop, yakihonne web just works. Because they're based in Asia i think a lot of western nostr users don't think about YakiHonne, but I think we should celebrate it more.

@YakiHonne folks, are you open the the idea of renaming Yaki Honne to something more english friendly? (Of course it would be good to do UX research to confirm my suspicion)

This. Not a western friendly brand.
I respectfully disagree with your statement in regards to why it’s not more popular in the states. While I acknowledge there is a percentage of people who are willfully bigoted towards people of Asian descent, the vast majority have no issue with them. And if I am being honest, the folks at YakiHonne are probably some of the nicest people I have ever known. In my opinion, the reason for their slow rise in popularity in the western hemisphere isn’t their nationality and it isn’t the quality of the product There simply aren’t that many people using the platform yet and when you have more well known clients like Damus, Primal and Nos taking the majority of users, especially mobile, that doesn’t leave much for anyone else. That’s not to say that they will stay perpetually at the back of the pack, as the user base grows and more praise is deservedly dumped upon this team, the more popular they will become.
We did a long form interview with @WendyDing and @npub147wh...selt about their Bitcoin Discovery journey, Nostr and their @YakiHonne journey! To those who are able to understand mandarin, give it a listen. @WendyDing shared about a story that at rural area of Argentine the cashier asked if she has Bitcoin so that they can transact. Unreal.
And maybe you are correct. That said it's not unusual for brands to use a different name in a different country. Burger King is "Hungry Jack's" in Australia, Lay's is "Walkers" in UK, Opel is "Vauxhall" in the UK, Bud Light is "yellow piss" everywhere outside of the US...
Below they mentioned that this has already been considered and in progress.
