My wife and I just throw a somewhat risky "get to know your neighbors" party in our apartment. Nobody knew each other in spite of living just a few feet away. Whole floor invited. Everybody came. Very different backgrounds, lots of fun just telling stories. A 3hr party became 6hrs. Huge success. A good reminder that good things do happen when you give them a chance.

We often hosted kids class parent get together. Super awkward at first. Then great way to start to get to know people who will play a part in your life. Wish more people did this. Nice! LFG

may the Mediterranean goddesses be upon you
I told my wife we should have one for our neighborhood (we moved not long ago) but she thinks it’s weird and apparently not something they do in Japan… 😔

Wonderful, but don't make the failure to repeat it! Wait at least 1 or two years.
THIS IS INSANE... Hear me out... I just bumped into a press release about a launch of an online dating site, Frisky Silvers, for old people. There was something about the name (Frisky Silvers) that it stuck with me. So, when I read your post, I mistakenly read “risky” as “frisky”. “My wife and I just throw a somewhat frisky "get to know your neighbors" party in our apartment. Nobody knew each other in spite of living just a few feet away. Whole floor invited. Everybody came. Very different backgrounds, lots of fun just telling stories. A 3hr party became 6hrs. Huge success. A good reminder that good things do happen when you give them a chance.” I thought to myself that “wow, that was one crazy idea that could have ended up really badly for you and your wife, but thank God the whole building is full of swingers or swinger wannabes”. I read through some of the first comments, like … DreMik: "Wonderful, but don't make the failure to repeat it! Wait at least 1 or two years.” Connie: “Love it!” Ready to Prepare: “Very nice decision from opsec point of view 🙌” … and after reading them I still thought that you had decided to throw “a somewhat frisky get to know your neighbors party”. It was only after I read the fourth comment (Dad Guy’s comment) that I decided to re-read your post. Wow, what a crazy rollercoaster of emotions... Anyway, congratulations on the party!
