Itโ€™s wild to invest so much time into something that can be taken away from you at the whim of whatever shadowy entity decides that day.

PRO TIP: Your time and energy is too valuable to be spent on those you do not trust. (Thanks, Sid.)
Unfortunately Nostr is not yet an alternative for that line of work, too few participants in the protocol. People might need to get a real job, which is also unfortunate.
People with a large audience at least have a good chance of a lot of their people following them over here
I think they have A chance of SOME of their people switching to Nostr, unfortunately that is too big of a wall to climb for most normies out there, and that is mosty Nostrโ€™s responsibility to improve.
Network effects take a long time to reach that critical mass, but Im confident itll get there. We just need better clients that dont go the easy route of sacrificing decentralization for UX. Easier said then done, of course. I firmly believe clients are gonna need to incorporate p2p at least for stop like content hosting. I started a project that will certainly be bigger than anticipated that Im hoping will be a pear-enabled distributed relay that can serve compatible clients (fork of amethyst that can connect to these special "relays")
Sounds interesting, for sure your code will contribute to improving Nostr much more than my comments. Fighting for survival now but hope to find the time soon to also contribute to Nostr with code. Thanks for your contributions!
Well all Ive contributed so far are my own comments, hopefully its a realistic goal for one amateur dev to do by himself lmao at least for a working POC and NIP spec
And in a reply on X it was revealed that he was operating 2-3 other accounts to "support" his monetised account. The really shocking thing is that he (and several other people apparently) couldn't see anything wrong with that. I mean first of all, what a massive waste of time. But also, how could he not see how manipulative that is, and why that might actually warrant being demonetised? Saying that, I would prefer if people like that stayed on X rather than clutter up Nostr, but still...
