Wow you guys showed this post a lot of love. Homeschooling has been a very positive experience for our family, and I encourage any of you to consider it with your own kids if it’s an option. Several of the replies asked about our choice of curriculum. Rather than try to reply to each one individually, I’ll write up a post later talking about our approach and what we’ve used. What kinds of things do you do to let them have autonomy too, like clubs and things so they meet other kids etc? I'm trying to figure it out pre-kid haha
Thank you for sharing. I was once on the other end of the home schooling discussion with my children. My father was a high school teacher, and we did the things that everyone else did. Socializing our children back then did not mean turning them into Socialists. Most regarded homeschooling to be only for the weird people. Myself included at the time. Now, after having witnessed decades of public school nonsense, I am now fully in support of homeschooling and encourage everyone to consider doing so if it can work for you. If not, consider private education (after careful consideration). If you cannot afford that or simply choose the public school route, be PRESENT in the parenting of your children. It is your duty and responsibility. Do not be tempted to outsource parenting to the public schools and other State apparatuses.
Back to basics… it will be similar to how society existed for millennia prior to the 1800s. Your family, your community. Find it. Be careful with the tendency to become complacent. You get one chance at this.
Can’t wait to read it, we’ve been homeschooling our son for about 3 years now and our daughter a year, but we are always looking for more ideas
Bulgaria. It’s not illegal per se but you can’t get to not go to a public school as well if you expect to find a job. I’ve heard there are some workarounds tho.
That sounds like it could be applied to the US as well, but you can just take a test to get the equivalent of a high school diploma. The workaround here is to start a business.

Looking forward to hearing your approach. I loved being homeschooled and now I love homeschooling my own kids.
Congrats! My son just got 57/60 for his term quiz! His best result yet in his second year of HS. Best decision ever!!!!!
