After spending more time of FB lately, I can confidently say (with some encouragement) that Nostr UX doesn't suck. Not at all. It's not uncommon to open the FB app to an empty feed with a grey blinking screen that stays that way for minutes. Or a notification indicator that says there has been activity but nothing new is displayed. Or a claim that replies exist that, despite rifling through "most relevant", "most recent", and "all", never appear. I'll have moderation requests show up for groups that I admin weeks-months after the request was made. Search is utterly broken. It's easier to search FB through Google than from within FB itself. Beyond FB, my YouTube history doesn't show what I've watched until days after the fact. I'll delete emails 2-3 times from Outlook or Gmail before they actually disappear. Financial apps send me notifications hours to days beyond when they are pertinent. I could go on and on... Most of this stuff is directly technology dependent and not related to their shitty business models or the algorithms that steer them or their stupid rules. It's all just broken experiences that people tolerate because they have no real recourse and too many reasons to stay. Nostr isn't broken. Its quite nice, actually. Clients might have their quirks but you'd have to add all of those together to match just how awful big tech has become.

We leads me into another thought... in-client bug/issue reporting. That's a thing. It's possible to do now. It works. More clients could have that. Every client should have that. Maybe I'll expand on my thoughts around that another time.
The only problem with nostr is the lack of friend/follow request feature that makes Facebook the king. The majority of people aren't interested too much in having public profiles or having any stranger reply to their notes. That's why X isnt popular among normal people. Facebook dominates in the world because of the networking.
Facebook is the worst UI on earth because it has been stacked upon for decades without ever eliminating things. It’s so bad.
Another great aspect about Nostr is how easy it is to spin up a client. Yeah; the fancy ones have all the bells and whistles. Which is why I use them. But if you just want to have a client that shows you the messages and allows you to post… no problem. That simplicity is also a feature of the censorship resistance that appeals to many. You can do the work yourself and it just functions. No stopping it.
There is relay software now to enable this type of interaction(that isn't hard to set up and run). A lack of client capability is a bigger limitation than operator desire. Not everyone will do it, but they don't need to. I like to think that eventually, everybody will know somebody who hosts a community.
Maybe... I don't know. I think it's an underrated super power to be able to offer topnotch support because the volume is dispersed across all the clients and relays. And kind 1 feeds everywhere would be better for it.
I should say I'll only go to GH or the repo for a select few people. But for casual use/testing, I'd like something like that

FB is a steaming pile of garbage. how anyone is still on that granny platform is a mystery to me.
It's not the "most recent" feed. Its a filter for comments on your posts. They do have a "friends" feed now, though, which is alright. Its about 9:1 posts to ads in no obvious order. They also have a goofy little quick-message feature, related to reactions, that I kind of like. Otherwise it's as crappy as to be expected 😅
I just got laid off, as a software tester. The customers are also cutting the dev budgets. They're vibing everything, now. These were industrial customers, by the way. They're vibe-coding the controllers for electronics, like stoves, cars, airplanes. image
Some do. I've had lots of positive responses bug reports and at least some conversation about most things I've requested... which is fair. My ideas aren't always great 😅
"we need creative new ways to breach into the network effect properties of other social networks" At that point we still want to offer a good UX, but the need for attention to user experience is inversely proportional to the real and unique value provided by the application/service. Simply because usefulness and entertainment are key factors in UX, and network effect is one of the main conditions to achieve this goal. I suspect that the user experience on major platforms has deteriorated as they’ve become mainstream, traffic increases, and they have become trapped within monolithic services and clients. Nostr can easily solve this problem thanks to decentralization and diversity.

🔴 What Is Islam? 🔴 Islam is not just another religion. 🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. 🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. 🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. 🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. 🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: 📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) 📚 🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. 🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.
Last minute example to confirm @Dawn view: I need to check a DM conversation on Facebook, going backward some months my messages are completely disappeared, I can only see the other person's ones. A while back, I tried to access the same conversation, but I had to give up because I was asked to enter a PIN to scroll back through the history, and the app froze completely when I entered it. I'm way luckier with NIP-17 and my small private relay!
