Two words. . .Dr. Bronners
Moisturizing cream: coconut oil. For the rest, I’m curious to know better options too.
- Don't use shampoo. Look into mechanical vs chemical cleaning
- Don't use deodorant. Fix your diet if you smell bad and fix your clothing if you sweat too much
- Don't use fragrances
- Toothbrush + saliva is doing all the work so toothpaste is not really needed but you can use coconut oil. Some use baking powder.
+1 for mechanical cleaning (dry brushing for body)
+1 for coconut and argan oils
+1 for clothing (linen, merino etc)
Tandis naturals for soaps for you and clothes
You don’t need the second half of this list
I’ll find out from the wife what the best toothpaste brand is
Vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice.
The trinity.
Wash your hair with diluted apple cider vinegar ( 1/8 ), it is awesome.

Toothpaste ... Here in Chile, every toothpaste has fluoride, including toothpaste for small kids. And it tastes sweet and fruity. Totally not evil.
There are toothbrushes made of bamboo that you can find on Amazon. Better to use these than plastic ones.
Good toothpaste is hard to find. I use fluoride free hello toothpaste but it’s not perfect and I’ve heard that brushing without toothpaste is actually sufficient.
Native makes shampoo, body wash, and deodorant with clean ingredients but not perfect.
Best bet for moisturizers are using tallow or other animal fat products. These usually have fragrances in them so be sure to check the ingredients.
Fragrances in general should be avoided. They disrupt your hormones. If you have to use a cologne or perfume, avoid spraying on your skin but keep in mind that inhaling it also isn’t good for you.
Facts
I do use non-scented laundry detergent, but I skip the fabric softener and use vinegar instead. Also, wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets.
Been using regular over-the-counter milk of magnesia (laxative in drug stores) for deoderant for years. Have to apply a second time during the summer but its great, and no residue or discoloration of clothes. Way cheaper too. Dont waste your money on the stuff marketed as MOM deoderants.
Dr Bronners is always a good choice.
If you want to go deeper into it check out Daring Olien - Fatal Conveniences. Lots of tips and goes also into cooking ware etc.
Coconut oil, quality salt and baking sode mixed makes a good all natural toothpaste.
TRY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR OR LIME TO FRESHEN UP THE PITS

My wife just did this with some peppermint oil in it. Pretty solid to be honest lol. I remember as a kid at my grandparents I would brush my teeth at their house with just baking soda and water
Salt in the right quantity is so good. I noticed it helps with my bad breath when I add it to my water.
I don’t use tooth paste or body soaps for many years. Your skin and mouth will adopt after a month. You will be fine and feel no difference after
Hmm, interesting. Have never heard of that one, but if it works it works. But, yea quality salt is very imortantant.
You beat me to it, the requirements practically read like their advertising I think.
The addition of palm oil to the recipe bothers me, but they still seem like the most reasonable mass produced, widely available Castile soaps.

We do the same. It works well.
Comfrey salve for moisturiser, healing too.

Your welcome 🤗
I think it depends very much on your lifestyle. If eating lots of acidic foods the body will have to detox much more and will have stronger smells...
But I definitely agree...I've been making my own toothpaste for over 9 years and all is good... also I'm a No-Poo...user with long wavy hair and just use once in a while a little volcanic soil...Happy to see more people trusting in natural living 💚
careful with using baking soda for toothpaste! It can be very abrasive! Not for daily use...if teeth are sensitive. I use coconut oil with activated charcoal 😉
Yay! Best conditioner 💫
Water
- toothpaste use non-fluoride there are many options to choose from
- hand wash dishes as there aren’t really any good options you can buy. There are some you can make but it’s hardly worth it imo
- find an organic coconut soap laundry detergent they’re not too difficult to find if you look
- hand soap/body soap / dish soap/cleaner / shaving cream use diluted Dr. Bronners with a foaming bottle for everything
- Use a salt crystal instead of deodorant it works well and is natural
- moisturizing cream use aloe Vera and natural oils/herbs
My recipe for homemade powdered laundry soap:
1 part Washing Suds
1 part Borax
1 bar of soap of your choice
You're going to shred the bar of soap using a cheese grater. I find the smaller shreds work better, as they dissolve more easily in the wash.
I prefer to measure in cups. 1 cup Washing Suds, 1 cup Borax, 1 bar of shredded soap.
Mix together well. Add to a container with a secure lid. It only takes 1-2 tablespoons per load. Because I had kids, dogs, and cats, I always used two.
When you first use it, it won't seem like that's all you need, but it is.
You can scale this recipe to as large or as small as you want. I always made three batches at once. It lasts for several months.
Lots of good options already mentioned but here are some more ideas:
- toothbrush
Bamboo toothbrush with boar bristles (most bamboo toothbrushes esp on Amazon use plastic bristles which means you're still prone to microplastic ingestion plus it's not compostable at end of life)
- laundry detergent
Borax + baking soda + washing soda, white vinegar as softener
- hand soap & body wash
Diluted Dr Bronner's (or other castile) in a foaming pump. Aleppo soap if you prefer solid soap.
- deodorant
Baking soda + cornstarch/arrowroot + coconut oil + a few drops of essential oil
(Not antiperspirant, lets you sweat, but absorbs smells)
- moisturizing cream
Coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, lanolin - plenty of options!
Most of these categories I have no such item
for showering I just use a pumice stone
no soap, no shampoo
You can moisturize with tallow
toothpaste can be made from clean ash and sea sault
dishwasher - use your hands
soap, body wash, shampoo etc - there is good natural soaps out there
deodorant - for what?
shaving cream - natural soaps again
moisture - coconut oil, aloe, other natural oils
