Don't miss 'em. But Zip disks were cool.
That's some scuzzy old computer equipment.
Remember the CLICK OF DEATH?! π
Itβs been so long since Iβve seen one of those.
Too late in the day for Derrida, but you started it "I speak only one language; it is not my own"
I'm old enough I remember helping businesses with their zip disk backup systems π
such an upgrade from floppies.
When was the last time you used an egg cups? Privately?

Zip my SCSI....
Zip's were the first removable media that expanded on what a removable disk could do. 1.44 MB vs 100 MB. That was just before CD burning became a thing.
The first time I ever burned a CD-ROM felt like THE FUTURE! π«
MO Disk i prefer
Probably during Reaganβs first term.
loved my zip disk drive.
Put down your tech and wander outside. The world is still the same.
Did you know USB uses the SCSI protocol?
Yes, itβs just UASP all the way down.
Augh parallel ports!!
mkay well i still kinda use serial ports tho, LOL
*walks outside*
*narrowly avoids getting hit by a Cybertruck*
Reminds me of bbs. π«‘
I remember player Commodore 64 games on cassette, things have changed π
Back then technology was agnostic, nobody made the next protocol or system worrying that someone would use it for evil, so people just made things that were useful or to entertain.
Now, it feels like every standard, technology, or innovation must come under moral scrutiny because someone bad might have it.
That's what these old computers mean to me, a time where technology just worked and didn't have to make a statement.
Thatβs also the world Iβm nostalgic for.
This is what the Nostr could look like.

Oh, I had one of those. Do you remember this game?

My nipples are hard. Make it happen. π
π
Autos have 3 been around since the 1920s.
Wait β¦ so the old world still exists β¦ down deep a few layers. Itβs like archeology β¦ but digital. π
Reminds me of that BjΓΆrk songβ¦
All the modern things
Have always existed
Theyβve just been waiting
To come out
And multiply
And take over
Itβs their turn now
So β¦ youβre prolly are a technophile?
Lode Runner was a great game. I must have played it on an Apple IIe.
I really want someone to implement Legend of the Red Dragon (or other doors games) as a nostr app.
Good reminder not to go backwards
Haha I remember when zip drives were cutting edge
They were so slick.
Iβve always wanted one. They were expensive for me.
$35 on eBay now, lol.
Still expensive π€£π€£π€£
I believe you mean overvalued.
