Now with WoT, we can load only the number of followers that truly participate on Nostr.

No. Because WoT is based on my graph (each users graph). I, or my follows, have to interact with them first. But even so, the score will be low.
I want this IRL. Like, edit out the people who arenβt showing up to LIFE. π€£

I guess it's complicated. On nostr there will never be a "followers count".

It's whatever the equation each user wants. They can just pick a provider that is more open or more restrictive on who to include.

Yes, but calculated from my perspective. Each user can generate their own on brainstorm and the app will automatically use those.

Any plans to eventually have Amethyst available for iOS?
Rather than an arbitrary minimum to be counted, how about in the grey area where it could be a real user with the follow, count it as a fractional follow. This might require some statistics counted with manual classification, but you could develop a weight curve where each follower is counted as the probability that someone of their WoT score is a real person.
That could work, and it is the beauty of this approach. Anyone can pick any algorithm they want. :)

WoT on Amethyst is based on the Trusted Assertions NIP, which allows you to choose your own WoT provider and use any equation you desire to compute the scores. The scores are personalized to your user and activity on Nostr. You can even self-host your own instance to create the scores in any way you see fit.

Does this mean adding new follower notifications is possible now? Maybe with a configurable minimum score
Not yet. We need a local DB to keep track of when people follow and unfollow you :(

I wonder if the lack of an accurate follower count has been part of Nostr's adoption problem? Some people are really into follower counts, especially probably influencers and celebs who would have big follower counts.
I don't think so. Yes people like that number and that could have affected things. But it is a minor issue.
What do you think has been Nostr's main adoption problem?

oh I can't wait for this feature. I like knowing who started following me because most times I look at their profile and of they have a good profile, I follow them back.
Would be good too if they receive a notification when I unfollow them because sometimes I want them to know I am mad at them.

I like followers and following list, it's a good way to find new people. Facebook was awesome because you always found friends of friends
