nostr wins if it stops trying to be a twitter clone and starts being the invisible layer underneath apps you actually want to use. like bitchat for location-based messaging, diVine for entertainment, whitenoise for private messaging, zap.stream for streaming, shakespeare for vibe coding, etc. it wins by unbundling into 50 different apps that all talk to each other, rather than one giant app/corp that traps you. it's all about the ecosystem.

Let's say, it's not the only usecase. #Nostr has so many possibilities. And with tools like #Shakespeare you can create any Nostr-based app for any usecase, and you don't need any programming knowledge.

The truth is that Nostr has been a failure so far. Few active participants, empty groups, and it keeps declining. This will only change if Nostr becomes easier to use, forms strategic partnerships, and attracts some celebrities and their fans.
You created a social media platform. Change the way people around the world communicate. Now. you have optimized the new mode of social platforms. Nothing is on you !
Pfft. Speak for yourself. I've been around over two years. It has gotten easier, faster, safer, more reliable (except primal), more interesting, more varied than twitter clones, and I've met some of the best people in the world (even in person) through the nostr protocol. You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion, but... Go be a doomer somewhere else or build something better.
Actually,Although I can't use Twitter now, in fact, I still like Twitter as a social product. Twitter is the real social media.🤭🫢
#Nostr, this social, is actually the most suitable for Chinese, but unfortunately, the Chinese are too stupid. Chinese people don't understand the importance of Nostr as a firewall that can avoid CCP.🫣
E por essa versatilidade que é bom. Quem vem buscando um X que descubra as possibilidades que o Nostr permite e entenda que não é uma “alternativa”, é uma rede.

Is there a good spot to learn about how nostr relays work / what they are / how to add them properly etc..?
Will the android version of white noise work with an android phone that has graphene os?

Fuck twitter Nostr isnt twitter
Well I think the current nostrverse is filled with people who don’t like big companies. But maybe Im biased and I personally hate to work and for big companies. So getting to big companies in the nostrverse is a long way, but I do see the benefits of having them tho.
Bitcoin is open-source decentralized censorship-resistant protocol layer of value. Nostr is open-source decentralized censorship-resistant protocol layer of information.
It wins with all those other apps but also with the ones that compete with X.com! If in the US, X might be censorship resistant, that is not the case in most of other jurisdictions where Musk just does deals that involve X. So yeah, nostr also needs to be a clone for Twitter.

People want to normify things because they want to increase their clout and follower count. If something normifies, it should happen organically, because the thing was useful to people. A thing should be useful to whoever finds it useful, not seek to be everything to everyone. Chasing that is MBA thinking, it's something only spoken by FAANG webdevs building a resume who casually use terms like "business case."

Rogan doesnt talk with btcers. Fk him.
Yeah - we can find out why Jack banned and shadowbanned literally all of the antivaxx doctors off of Twitter.
Decentralizing repos to me is the coolest feature in nostrland atm. Waiting for you to add your apps to nostr gittr.space 👾🐈‍⬛
Exactly right. I tried to express that sentiment to fiatjaf earlier this year. “Clones” rarely win over the original. But Nostr wins because it is the social / identity / marketplace layer for Bitcoin... and a decentralised communications layer for countless other apps. View quoted note →
Important to note thought that this is a major pivot, with all that major pivoting entails. This is a case of "as it turns out toothbrushes are useful to clean bathtub grout". Which can be true, but still, it's important to stay aware that toothbrushes were designed to brush your teeth with.
Not really a pivot, just leaning into the “os” of Nostr… Notes “and Other Stuff” transmitted by relays. Notes is the familiar hook, and decentralized social media is a vital piece of the puzzle. But just being a twitter clone is leaving the bulk of Nostr’s unique superpowers hidden.

Nostr made significant progress and changes in two years. Many appa have become way way better since.
Oh yeah many apps did, but some shit didn't. I still don't know which client to use for DM's myself. We'll get there eventually!

Sounds like too much fucking work.🚬☕️😒
Two thoughts on this: 1. We need to get out of the mindset of “building nostr apps”. We simply need to build great products that people want to use, and Nostr will be the underlying protocol. So totally agree with Jack on this. 2. In the long run, we will absolutely displace X and other closed platforms. It will be a grind, but we will wrestle away the network effects from gradually, then suddenly. View quoted note →
Plus easy to use. (And integrates into current system. Probably to only support previous point.)
