The biggest problem of Nostr is that most of the content is still bitcoin-focused. That's a great problem to have. If you like anything other than Bitcoin, your voice will be unique. Be the change you want to see in the world and contribute. Invite your friends. Be free.

Although this is true. In practice this means people will stand out and be appreciated. But those people tend not to stick it out as they are looking for a deeper engagement with their posts from like-minded people / communities. They either leave or get coerced into paying their nostr bitcoin rent eg making bitcointwitter style slop posts, slogans, attaching bitcoin to their content as the novelty wears off. If they don't leave that is. Musicians shoehorn bitcoin (or Nostr meta) gimmicks into songs, painters paint the bitcoin slop, anglers say 'stack fish' etc etc lol. And then theyve become the bitcoin org or they leave. Nostr is a machine that turns everything into bitcointwitter. The posting meta is too strong. For now at least.
Started here talking about bitcoin. Now it’s “you like dogs and the sea?”
Alternative metas are needed here, not the Primal (-style) recommendations and trending being heavily bitcointwitter-centric, discovery being What Derek and Jack like and repost. It's all too sadly baked in atm
Plenty of English lessons on my Nostr page that have nothing to do with Bitcoin, apart from the fact that you can buy the courses with Bitcoin. Come and join the fun!
there's also key management hurdles, poor UX and software quality which negatively contribute to user retention. the fact that most of the users are Bitcoin-focused libertarian/technocratic types is a big turn off for many. that's why I think #communities are key: focused on shared values, interests and goals, organically grow with invitations, and can self-regulate. ironically NIP-29 is the most hated NIP.
This is why I try to focus on creating business and leadership content.
First day for me, i have no idea how to find content i like, i will post my outdoors activity in Corsica with my dog, but i don't know how people can find it if they like this kind of content. Didn't see # or other ways to share info.
I remember talking about this two years ago. There have been several people interested in more than bitcoin who have come and gone, probably because they just couldn’t find a community here. But I think things are moving in the right direction. Most people acknowledge this is an issue, so I’m hopeful it will improve. View quoted note →
Your dogs are beautiful 🤩 lot bigger than mine 🤣 Let's try to find the right # to get out of the shadows 😁
For the record I still don't think I've ever mentioned it on my streams other than saying "You can support with zaps on Nostr". However, I'm waaaayyyy more likely to say "You can support by knitting a scarf saying Kalimera and waving it in the park" (fact). The only bitcoin track I ever made was this in an early attempt to fit in here... I think the track was too futuristic for most people tbh.
Welcome. It's difficult to find people in the beginning on nostr without algorithms or suggested lists. Check out the #grownostr hashtag and like someone else suggested following.space in your browser. This is my dog: Beefy. image

#welcome & #introductions use & #follow #hashtags to #find #people to follow and so they can find you. many here believe in value for value #v4v , so zap away. :) #smij #zapd
yeah … interesting thought. the “influencers” / public figures here do tend to repost the same people. Maybe because the nostr feed is like a newsletter.
i think bitcoin/libertarian/technocratic is ok … it’s when those topics are discussed in a very black and white way, and with supreme confidence that it’s like … time to practice ignoring 😬
