I am a developer with 15 years of experience spread across many languages and I have very high competency with docker and git. I should be much better than I am for having spent 15 years developing but software development has always just been a way to make money. It's a secondary passion of mine. All of that said, I have been feeling a bit down on myself for not contributing to this space more. I think I have been putting it off for some kind of weird fear of "not being good enough" with all of the kings in this space and the little time in my life after being a dad to several little kids, etc. Feel free to shill or just link me your project if you are interested my help. I am aiming to put in ~1 hour per day on open source work.

I'm a half assed hobby developer (mostly JavaScript) who got kicked out of programming school and hasn't touched any code in three years, but I want to pick it up again. I'm thinking about forking JesterUI and taking it the rest of the way. Want to give it a prettier UI and include a built in feature for players to put a wager on their chess match.
You could dockerise the latest nostr nests repo, and package it up for deployment on the Umbrel app store. This seems like a logical next step.
I am a self taught dev of nearly half a year because I want nothing more than to be able to contribute to freedom tech. Here's all my shit. This is my domain btw which also a repo but private and I have no problems sharing if you have an idea for something to add. I also run a relay at this domain, a git server, audio bookshelf and a full node with mempool instance. All available at happytavern.co
That's awesome Jonk, check out the #nostr topic on GitHub: There are a lot of bounties on nostr too, check out Resolvr: https://resolvr.io/ You can also check out the #bounty hashtag in any nostr client and you should find a bunch of notes mentioning some specific issue they need help with. There is also a bunch of projects over at our favorite Awesome list:

I've been a fellow cabin mate on the good ship Imposter Syndrome. Always been a confident guy but was blown away by the skills of my new team and took me a good while to find my feet and my place in the team and to feel in myself that I belonged. Having a good team around me most certainly helped me overcome this mindset.
NsecBunker needs a lot of docker love, I have no idea about it and would love for someone to help out make it a one-click install on digital ocean, start9, umbrel, aws, whatever
I wouldn’t worry about good enough, and just go for it. This is the space to do that because it’s the Wild West and the frontier where everything counts 👍🔥

There are too many people lurking on the sidelines that feel this way too (weird fear of "not being good enough" with all of the kings in this space) about contributing. If you understand Bitcoin and Nostr, and are using them both in these early stages, then you’ve got the brain power to contribute something. Time to come out of the woods. #Bitcoin #Nostr
I know this fear too well, which is why my work is currently in private repos. But that being said, I am very sure just about everyone here would appreciate the wisdom of an expert! :) So don't be shy, have fun ^^
I remember similar moment in like year 17... realized that I will never see myself as "a good developer". Top 2% on Stackoverflow, coded multiple startups fully by myself, had years where I would literally code every day... and I would still fall victim to like "oh, but I'm not good at evaluating this random project in TypeScript, am I really a good dev". Luckily, by that point it was already a year or so into this "Rockstar Developer" persona, so that started to take hold...
Im currently working with Diego on Nostr Live Audio Spaces. Its built on Jam Systems and I have some bounties open on it. Technologies include docker, react, typescript, html, css, webrtc. server at cornychat.com code at github.com/diamsa/jam bounties: nostrbounties.com
🫡 Will get started on it as soon as I get my desktop PC up and running again. Jester already has most of what I wanted to build. It just needs to be finished. Needs logging in with NIP-07 extension, and ability to place a wager on the match. It's also visually lack luster and could be polished up a bit. I'll likely take a 1% rake of the wagers for my trouble. Also probably going to incorporate automatic translations into the chat. I envision a place where people from all around the world can play chess, place a friendly wager, chat and get to know each other. Imagine how great it would be for the guy who doesn't have much money to stack sats but is good at playing chess.
The only reason I have this profile as a "anon" rather than my name and so on is because of that, I do software for a living but now is time to step up and start giving back to the FOSS community. This note btw is just a great source of projects to work with, so thanks for that.
Looking forward to using it and seeing what will be made with it!
