Last week, I was stuck in an airport for six hours and ended up talking with a few college kids about Nostr, mostly about diVine. They were shocked when I told them I deleted my Twitter account with 30K+ followers three years ago. They were even more surprised when I said follower counts don’t really matter.
They were very focused on numbers and influence. They’re young, and I don’t think my perspective fully landed, but they did say I seemed pretty zen and surprisingly chill about it all.
I hope we reach a point when more people feel this way.

Lol, I just remembered when diVine was supposedly gonna keep getting media coverage and drive user adoption to nostr lmao
Gm zen master 🙏
You should have promoted Nostr on that Twitter account.
I'd love to hear what those kids were saying afterwards. That crazy old man! 😆
Actually "chill and zen" beats "pissed off, and raging".
👍
after joining nostr, i think being crazy is cute
Well, they did all ask me to drive them back home, a three hour trip, and they weren't old enough to rent a car, so i couldn't have been too creazy 😂
I agreed to drive them, but shortly afterwards the airline announced our plane was in finally inbound and we'd be taking off in bout an hour or so. If I drove we would have gotten home at the same time.
I did for a few months. Many people joined Nostr in the beginning because of that promotion. After a while though, I realized that it was no longer worth the effort. I wasn't going to reach new people and I didn't want to grow an audience on Twitter in which I didn't care about.
I am new to Nostr yesterday but it is similar to how i felt when I lit up my first bitcoin miner. "Where have you been all my life?" feeling. Had to zap this 💪💪💪 post. It's just another world here in Nostr of value for value without all the getting strung out on white sugar

I enjoyed the compliment because my favorite Overwatch character is Zenyatta 🤓
This is the way!
Today I left my eX, fully embracing my new Nostr love 🧡
I am also shocked 😊😳
Your “here’s what I did, and it’s working out” story is powerful, they’ll be thinking about it for a while.
Influence fades. Calm compounds.
Follower counts matter less when content syndicates freely across a network. These metrics became a fixation only to counter algorithmic bias favoring media monopolies. While following once guaranteed reach, that hasn't been true for years, rendering the stat largely meaningless.
That where I’m at
Little interest or participation in platforms
Feels too early to abandon entirely - but I have no interest
You’ll never remember that last fax , the last cd burn, or ever returning that last videotape.
Deleted? I'm close to deleting my X.
Or the last time we booted Windows XP...
Yes!
There's too much noise, negativity, and clickbait.
No zaps.
🔥🔥🔥☝️
not even they expected their page to receive much attention when they are just finishing their Android version.
It’s very strong to shut down a 32k account .
I like it . I think I will do the same 😏
Probably shouldn't have deleted your 30k Twitter account but you are right those numbers don't really matter.
meh. at the rate i was growing, i'd have well over 100K now, but i do not care! nostr is where my allegiance lies.
🔥💪
I dropped mine with about 300 bots too. 😝
😆
That’s a follow
