I like the chill laidbackness of nostr. Maybe folks will come around to enjoying the wide range of randomness I post haha plus there is still that relay idea I wanted to get your thoughts on 🐝
I've been here for almost a year. I love the energy here. Huge fan of Bitcoin. I find like minded people here with ease. Nostr is also a unique beast, like Bitcoin, in that it is freedom tech. We need both! You can't convince me to go back to normie land.
I would echo @SGT.FISH here and say the people who stay find genuine conversation and people who want to engage without content farming or intent Similar to communities I found on telegram previously, you can actually tell when people care that you log in every day Unfortunately I agree that starting out is tough if you don’t already have people to follow. I felt that

Its All the positive talk about humanity for me zaps are just a bonus
Nostr feels positive in an internet filled with doom scrolling. For now it feels like something special is being built here that truly has the opportunity to make free speech a reality for the world
You gotta be a person who likes to learn new things. Who enjoys exploring new stuff. Those who don't have that, they won't stay on nostr for long. I think that's the make it or breake it point.
Positivity of the people here. No one is here because of some network effect I guess... Everyone wants to be here for certain reasons and it is a great community. Takes some time build it up, but I don't want to go back anymore. There was so much attention seeking, violence and negative news scrolling my Twitter feed I don't know where it came from. This is again a place to put out your thoughts, discuss and share ideas.
A good amount of the content I'm looking for is accessible here now and I see the potential bright future of the protocol and want to be here to help see it grow.
I’ve been a bitcoiner for a while, and used it as the most incredible store of value ever created. But Nostr showed me that Bitcoin is also an incredible medium of exchange, which I knew, but never experienced before. Also, Nostr gives me me open access to whatever the incredible devs building here cook up. One key, and my social graph follows me wherever I go. Never going back to traditional social media. Deleted my FB and only use twitter at this point as a way to purple pill more users. Glad you are here!
Trying to disrupt the centralization honey !!! I don’t even use zaps ⚑️ πŸ˜‚
It’s hard to put into words but I feel like I’m being myself here rather than β€˜an account’ elsewhere
if you want an outsider to join you where you at, then they can join very easily. I joined here in minutes, shocked how easy it was. no email and phone required. Your outside readers will find you accessible. The world will see you. my email/phone is too centralized with social medias will keep going in circles. I WANT OUT!
Did you whitness the Beard/Bread situation last night? This. And, exactly this. Nostr is fun, entertaining. You can do what you want - mute the bots, like and repost as much as you wish without any limits or restrictions (aside from connection limits by relays, which is understandable). The interactions on here are actually meaningful because they are not algorythmicaly driven - in fact, there is no algorythmn here. The fact that the bread/beard situation got so big for a solid 20 minutes-ish was purely organic and mad fun! So yeah, that's why. =)
for me it's being close to people moving forward this technology. This is what should have been to live in the early days of the internet. A lot of different initiatives trying to shape the future!
There are two aspects for me. The first is it is free speech technology that has traction, and the second is the people I'm connecting with. I still use Facebook occasionally because there I'm connected to people I know in real life. I have not met any of my Nostr contacts yet, so in that way, I'm using it in a similar way to how I used to use Twitter, which I seldom look at now.
Users from different backgrounds who all think that centralized power = bad for both the financial systems as well as social media. Those users prefer to use dialogue instead of debate here. It's way less toxic and thus emotionally draining than f.e. twitter/X
Free speech and not being a mental and emotional slave to algorithms

Not the main reason, but not having ads is nice.
I work on decentralised social networks, and this one is interesting, even if it seems a bit early days. #Mastodon has problems and Twitter though much better than before still throttles posts and could easily change completely. View quoted note β†’
