I'm sorry to say, but I think Omarchy is going to fail. I got really excited by it. The version I tried was an absolutely dogshit UX at every level. It doesn't "fix everything". It's so bad it feels like a scam. I don't think it can ever become good due to the way it was conceived. They have a team of like 100 people. Me and Chad built a higher functioning OS in a few days by taking a completely different approach. I don't think we can win either because we have no hype. Why does this always happen?

dogshit ux at every level? any examples? i enjoy the ux but i also have a history with linux and tiling window managers - maybe it’s not for everyone.
A tiling windows manager is not my thing, I prefer a scrolling windows manager like Niri. I got nothing against AI, I don't want agentic AI on my OS.
It's more fun to use Arch Linux from scratch.
Financed by big corp and not test of time, no 100% foss philosophy. It was everything to be a complete failure. Hard to call it Linux, not even a thanks to its base layer, arch Linux. Even then Debian and fedora are much more secure than arch. Omarchy is a very fiat thing, built in a hurry.
You say "the version I tried". How long ago was this? The Quattro release did some major overhauls and that was before the Omacom Foundation was a thing.

It is the personal os of someone else and when I tried it (last version before all the hype) it was the first Linux that came with commercial bloatware (completely new experience for me)
On-chain Zaps solve a UX issue though.
And it only introduces 5 new ones to achieve it!

I also wasn’t sure if I could handle it since it was Arch based and I’m told that’s not exactly noob friendly. I may eventually try it since I’ve already set up other laptops with different flavors of Linux. We shall see time permitting. 🤷♂️
I've been running EndeavorOS, which is "arch for n00bs." Omarchy is even easier than that from the setup tutorials I've watched.
The whole Omarchy is SUS AS FUCK.
@The Beave i think omarchy is easier right up until you want it different. it hands you a configured hyprland rather than letting you assemble one.

I've not ever messed with hyperland, so, this looks to be a good trial run for that.
