I deleted primal. The fact that people had to complain for them to uncensor @fuckstr makes me not want to support them anymore. I barely used it before but now I’m done with it. They could easily censor me next and I’m not here to ask for permission to use this protocol. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but all trust is gone now. Anyway GFY. image

Did they say how/why he was banned. Shitty move when they have a block/mute feature.
I'm pretty new here and I'm trying to understand. Primal was able to censor him but not stop him from using NOSTR? What is the alternative to Primal?

That is correct. Nostr is the protocol which you can’t censor. Clients, such as Primal, are how you interact with the protocol and set up rules for their own relays. You can use your npub/nsec in any client. When you don’t like how a client does something you can move to another client and still have all of your nostr history, follows, mute list etc.
to piggy-back off of this, there are tons of Nostr clients: Amethyst (Android only), Damus (iOS only), Wisp (Android only but iOS coming), Nostur (I think iOS only), Yakihonne. There's more too, and that's not including the web clients like Jumble, Snort, and others. Primal is unique in that it has web, Android and iOS
I switch between nostr apps everyday and I noticed that primal was just different. I didn't like it even as a newbie to nostr, thankfully I just removed it all together. Turns out that was a great decision in hindsight. In mean these mofos were asking for my credit card to fund my wallet on primal...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
You can use other clients, depending on your device. On desktop I really like jumble.social On iOS, I think nostur and Yakihonne are fantastic On Android, it seems that wisp and amethyst are the best options
The issue is that primal tends to be where a lot of people are onboarded to nostr. And their caching server, whether intentional or not, can just completely make you nonexistent to users on primal. If that is possible, what’s the point of nostr anymore? What are we accomplishing with all these relays if the setup is similar to Twitter?
They have an app now Right now I’m using nostur and Yakihonne. I plan to switch to android soon and will try out some of those apps when the time comes.
That is the point when you use relays correctly. Primal uses a caching server to interact with relays. That is the central point of failure.
Yeah primal leaves a lot on the table. The credit card stuff is mostly to stay compliant and keep Apple happy so the app stays on the App Store.
Very interesting. So it’s not entirely malicious, which I didn’t completely feel convinced of. But the nature of the server is problematic because it’s not like relays are limiting you for posting too much. The client is limiting you which prevents your notes from being seen by primal users. So your relay setup kind of doesn’t matter on primal.
Should be working, now, yeah. Over payment targets. There are some apps with Monero tip events, and I think I am revealing them. But I have to wait for someone to send me one, to find out if they work.

There are over 1 billion English speaking people and only 500 people and bots follow me on nostr. My life is not built on needing more than a few people to interact with and so far Primal has been a great way for me to interact with a few other interesting people(including you). There are millions of other conversations going on around us all the time that we don’t know of. If Primal happens to block you, use the npub you still control to build of community of people who don’t use Primal and carry on. I’m thankful for all the people building the nostr ecosystem at virtually no cost to me.
I’d rather not wait to get blocked before I use an alternative. Otherwise, I would’ve stayed on twatter.
You’re not missing much tbh. It doesn’t even display notes based on your relays. Just from there caching server. Twitter 2.0 with npubs lol
so my initial primal wallet from 2024 was funded from my strike acocunt (which was their backend). even setting that up back then took like 4 months cause none of their devs cared to respond or support user questions about how to get lightning to work and my WoS only started working after i got that strike connection going (i do not endorse WoS btw and haven't used them in like 2 years). what primal was actually doing with the satoshis i sent from strike was selling them for usd because Apple wouldn't let them do actual zaps (also why Apple can GFO - sorry ios users but you're in a cyber penal colony). so end of the year strike sent the 1099 because primal lied about their client using the lighning network (the still don't despite most of them being BTC "influences"). primal never had a btc wallet and they weren't doing lightning transactions - they were selling your btc to fund something that still isn't a nostr client to this day. total psyop!
