important to own a few 556 rifles because ammo is plentiful but 300 blackout is fucking awesome

A single 300blk is superior. Stack ammo crates of a 1000 rounds. Very easy to climb to 10,000 rounds over time. Replace training ammo as you use it. Maintain a backup rifle of the same type and build or at least key rifle parts.

I shot one with a can. Loved it, however the back pressure from the can caused gas to flood the chamber. Made my eyes water. Def need a gas piston upper to mitigate that

People compare it to 556 to much. It is better to compare it to 9mm which it wins in every category besides ammo cost. No rifle beats it in cqb
A krinkov with a can is similar at ranges that matter. And you can adapt an AR to shoot AK. Not sure why you'd want to. .300 does do heavy, subsonic rounds much better

I was taught to be accurate with steel sights at 500 yards. That’s a cool setup, though.

It gives you a huge sense of liberation with steel sights. They won’t fail you, can’t be knocked “off”, lose battery…dots and thermals are badass.

With practice and right technique, very easily group within 5 in circle. It’s best to practice with a spotter who can follow the track of the bullet.

Believe it or not, when shooting steel sights, you blur the actual target focusing on the steel sights.

this makes sense. although I'm certainly not getting grouping like you describe even at 200 on irons.
Prone position, spread legs, feet pointed out. There are probably YouTube videos with the breathing techniques, slowly squeeze trigger.
At 200 you should be able to very easily headshot with repetitive firing.
