Agreed.
I don't see the point if I can't self custody. It basically just becomes a CBDC.

ECash was before bitcoin, but bitcoin is the current winner. Saylor says “you don’t sell the winner to buy the loser.”
ECash needed internet native money to even be a viable idea (in my opinion)
Samurai was self-custody. Disintermediation equally important.

I think we just have to totally reject the idea that we are "transmitting money" we're transmitting bits. Transferring information.
While i agree, i also think arguing with “them” about concepts and semantics will not bear fruit.
We need to continue to build and make privacy preserving systems so pervasive that their words laws and opinions are simply counter to reality.
Whenever we stray from the path of self custody, the government is there to correct our course.
