But we were told calling them “bitcoins” would be less confusing for the normies. This is what you get for being arrogant and not listening to your users. #SatsAreTheStandard ✨ GM ☀️ PV 🤙 image

projection. you don’t know why he was confused. was it because he was already a bitcoiner familiar with the term sats? was it because he’s not a bitcoiner but knew the price of bitcoin and thought this was astronomically high? or was he just confused because it was the first time he was using the POS to issue and receive a bitcoin payment and was naturally thinking out loud? you don’t know the context based on this tweet.
It’s confusing because the UX is bad and doesn’t make sense to both new and seasoned bitcoin users, except for the ones who have embraced twisted logic that doesn’t go against 15+ years of established history. ₿6,582 ❌ ₿0.00006582 ✅ 6,582 sats ✅
It’ll all work out at $1M per whole coin. That’s when we’ll all do a one-time shift of the decimal.
Yup

I'm sure you're a nice guy, but who TF cares? Following your logic, they may not know what a sat is, but they MAY know the market value of one bitcoin if they're LiTeRaLly paying in bitcoin via Square. Having a coffee be 6,000 bitcoins is just DUMB. Either A. Use sats B. Use bitcoins Don't use A but call it B 🤦🏻‍♂️

We also might just accept that without a decimal point it is sats. With a decimal point at the left it is Bitcoin. No one wanted to agree on the sats icon so Square said FIDO. Fuck It, Drive One. Waiting for everything to be correct is not good business.

Yeah they should definitely fix that... But they don't need to call them sats. Sats is a made up term which is just arbitary and is meaningful for a handful of people on nostr. You are paying with a fration of a bitcoin.
I really don’t feel right calling them bitcoins it only creates confusion. Who came up with that idea? I deal with normies every day, and I would never show anyone an interface like that
That’s why criticism is important, not only from Nostr users, but also from everyday users and merchants. That’s how you improve it. That’s how it grows
Who even says that anymore? I pay with Bitcoin instantly, just tap and go. And honestly, I haven’t heard this argument for years. Maybe the people around me have already leveled up, built things, and actually understand how Bitcoin works. Maybe that’s why I don’t run into anyone who still says stuff like that

For a handful of people on Nostr? Wtf are you talking about^^. Sats is the commonly used term. Does Not have anything to to with Nostr.
It is needed. For real payments you need a clear smallest unit, that’s the satoshi. Nothing mystical about it. For me, and for those who actually use it, it matters. If you don’t need it, that’s fine, that only tells me something about your usecase, not about mine
