It's easy to buy drugs with. That doesn't make it a threat to the system. The system is handling it just fine it seems to me... Since you know it's banned from every exchange. Rather than real money whose game theory is such that they can participate and be rewarded rather than attacking it for more gain.
It is, they want a digital currency where they can openly track everyone's spending. They call that anti money laundering. Bitcoin is great for that, monero isn't.
Do you work for one of these banks? You're telling people to only use bitcoin because bitcoin is already captured and to avoid using monero because it isn't captured? Or you're in denial about bitcoin being captured?
So your idea of real money relies on being able to trade it for dollars on a kyc exchange? You can still trade monero for dollars, you do understand that right? It's just no kyc. As for buying drugs, that takes me back. I remember when you could actually spend bitcoin like money. Years ago, before bitcoin was captured, you could buy all sorts of drugs with it. Now? Only thing you can buy with Bitcoin is gift cards. Bitcoin has actually gone backwards with adoption as money
We didn't need to beg for regulation. No one is promising compliance... Bitcoin didn't simp for anything. The traditional financial system includes it because it was always going to include it... That's what winning looks like. They can't beat us. They benefit by joining us. Nation states buying Bitcoin is not losing. It's winning. Tell me how Bitcoin has compromised in any way...
Idk mane. You can pay your bills with BTC through many services. Hell others you can sell into fiat to buy wtfe you need on the spot. Works well for me.
I sometimes wondered why there is no Bitcoin valued privacy coin, but I assume I should be investigating side chains instead? Would something like monero as a sidechain work? Or is lightning already equally private?
Liquid is a side chain. It is federated but very very private and also has multi asset support and covenants. 2 things I'm not sure we'll ever have on L1. We can only pray for covenants there. Multi asset will have to be on some L2.
Lightning just has different privacy weaknesses (couple examples; Lightning nodes know tx amounts going through them, Monero nodes do not. Monero tx fees are visible to the public, lightning fees are not.) I don't understand why you think Liquid is better with less privacy tech. Liquid only hides amounts. Sender and reciever address aren't hidden or even obfuscated.
What do you think about VerifiedX? In the articles written about it it sounds private and programmable which sounds very cool. But I never hear it mentioned on Nostr and I assume all the crypto people would be all over it if it was actually good.
Hmm, first time I've heard of it. They claim it's a sidechain. I've no clue if it's legit or not, but my initial reaction is always skepticism. I'll look into it though. The closest and least invasive thing I've seen that maybe could work on Bitcoin (still a long shot) are drivechains like Paul Sztorcs "Ecash". Could have any crypto tech you want on Bitcoin as an optional sidechain. Monero sidechain, Ethereum sidechain, etc. If someone doesn't like it they can completely ignore it as a user/node/miner.
Oh so I can run my own eth node and use it to transact with my friends without an intermediary? Because that's how we measure harm to the banking system. ast I checked you couldn't do that with eth at all. But I run several Monero nodes and can transact with people on nostr easily without paying a large fee. So you're just making shit up that's incorrect and misguiding the normies because your butthurt about Monero. Again.
"game theory" is doing all the heavy lifting in this sentence None of you has ever explained the so-called theory that starts with governments buying Bitcoin and ends with them surrendering the ability to print money.
There are still these services though. I live in the US and there's at least 10 different providers you can get a visa card from that will let you sell into fiat to spend on the spot, CryptoCom for example. There's more businesses adding lightning services too. Hell Steak and Shake in the US lets you pay 100% in BTC.
Anyone who held Monero past 5 years would be wealthier than someone who held equivalent amount of Bitcoin. Monero's doing fine price wise. More importantly, Bitcoin culture's obsession with NGU has been damaging to the tech and holding Bitcoin back on the p2p money front. Monero's entire focus is driven by that focus, not Wall Street adoption and acceptance by bankers and hedge funds. Zoom out and observe where this is heading, it's pretty easy to see when you're not blinded by laser eyes.
You specifically said you don't want to see people poor. That is a comment on price, not adoption. On adoption: Monero dominates Bitcoin when both are accepted, and Monero's adoption as p2p money is trending positively (see xmrbazaar. In fact you can even see positive trends on here of people wanting to send XMR via payment targets and negative trends on BTC zaps).
Boy, you must be pretty disappointed about Bitcoins performance the last 10 years At least XMR is positive over the same span

Man, I haven’t been able to like any of your posts on Jumble for weeks. I’ve tried 20–25 times, I’ve tried to set my relays to match yours, I’ve cleared my browser cache, but nothing’s worked. I keep waiting and waiting, but I still can’t like your posts, and I see that none of my emoji selections are being accepted. Nostr is so annoying, really.

Some bitcoin maxis will read this headline literally, unfortunately.
