why developing a whole relay for one specific feature? when they can be designed to accept plugins or add-ons. this model make it hard ro scale these relays...

Probably the best thing that happened to nostr, is that they killed utxo's bitcoin business. Kudos for going even harder!

The Aegis relay is a nice developmental addition to the Nostr relay ecosystem. We haven't had a new paid relay platform launch in almost two years. Aegis will fill a nice gap for those that want to run paid relays on their own server, with their own domain, but also are not experienced developers or overly familiar with the command line. Plus, with the addition of file hosting support, this could be a nice package for onboarding new users. And speaking of being sovereign, for those of us that run our own Lightning nodes, it would be nice to have a future version with LND support, LNbits support, etc.

Hands down to @utxo the webmaster 🧑‍💻 on his journey to craft the perfect relay 🚀

Quick review of Aegis Relay: First of all. Thanks to @utxo the webmaster 🧑‍💻 for putting this together. The name aegis is a bit nostalgic for me since I played Dota 2 for quite some time - Aegis is an important item in the game that everyone seeks. Installation instructions were clear - they require some expertise, but nothing chatGPT can't resolve. Installation took roughly 10-15 minutes after setting up a cloudVM (5 minutes). If you have installed any of UTXO, or any relay for that matter, the process is exactly the same. - There is one extra step but its is very easy to complete. The negative: The extra step... requires KYC. I wish UTXO can set it up in a different way. But I understand. Relay works as advertised! You visit the website, paste your npub, pay an invoice, and you get a notification "Payment received", The npub will be whitelisted and you can send notes immediately. If you setup the relay online - it is very fast. Why is this important? The easier it gets to setup relays like this - Especially private ones - The easier it is to build communities.
