The revolution will not be stopped by Apple or anyone else.
It’s sad to see Apple going this route. A few years back I had some hope they might embrace Bitcoin and start integrating it into their company. Imagine the incredible first mover advantage they could have had from the big 5 tech companies, integrating a signing device into the iPhone and baking in lightning + bitcoin to the native wallet app. Apple could have done something awesome with bitcoin. Maybe they still will in the future, but for now looks like they are determined to resist the orange revolution.
The more you give the more they will take. Opt out of centralized hardware and software, or be ready to accept whatever comes your way...
Don't forget PWA's can only be saved as an "app" from Apple's own browser Safari. All other web browser apps on iOS are basically Safari with gui wrappers as they have to use Apple's WebKit under the hood. You don't think they will do something about this as well if they feel like it? They own your device and all the closed source software on it. View quoted note →

O tested Primal, but do not load all notes of the feed for me. I liked nostrich.com client but it's not being developed anymore.
Nothing but another opportunity for a 'kid with a computer' to figure something out that will thwart the worlds biggest consumer tech company on their own platform.
zapped ⚡️and hoping we’ll have a sustainable solution for us apple users soon as it would be a hassle to switch to android just for this (zaps work fine on android or…?)
I tend to agree with you on this. None of the web clients available give me that UI/UX appeal. Hoping for that of Plesbtr soon

Hide the zap button behind a feature flag. 😂

Is it really a win? Apple is a service provider. They seem to have forgotten that. They deserve to lose customer base. This feels like a win for Apple control.
This makes me what to retire in Asia, prob Japan would be my choice...
Really? Have no issues with Flutter thusfar on cosanostr.app Only find it sad I cannot use Canvaskit due to CORS for images. So I use the somewhat less fancy HTML renderer. I'm very much in alpha, so wonder what the PWA will do when the app grows.
How about the ZAP button, only adds an zap emoji onto the post. Then you set up info for ZapplePay in browser? For example, how Amazon lets you read purchased content on the Apple devices. But you have to buy on the web.
Yeah, Damus has some flows but scrolling didn’t freeze like when use this PWA. As a dev I can understand the heavy stress is happening when scrolling a page full of web components. I’m not sure PWA is the way to go. Hope we can do it with way less frameworks.
I am curious, if you allow people to buy bitcoin, would that resolve the issue? You could open a marketplace and people can use their own bitcoin as needed (without purchases). I am assuming zaps are tied to sats--I am a bit out of the loop over here but interested in learning more, please correct my errors 🤟
Clarity: Basically do what Elon did on Twitter and Blue for purchases, add the 30% fee to the consumer (only on iOS tho, add related fees on other platforms).
I like this idea. If you can buy sats directly in the app using in-app purchases (of course, with a nasty fee), this would solve the issue as people are encouraged to use in-app purchases. However, they can also use sats from other wallets they already have.
