As much as I like hearing the #bitcoin rhetoric every single week, every single day, every single minute, and every single second here on #nostr . It’s genuinely mind blowing how much of an echo chamber it has become, and how some people haven’t realised this.
Some people may not want to hear this, but we need to divert the conversation away from constant Bitcoin takes and actually bring something new and fresh. We need the normies. Trying to onboard people right now is impossible when the place is filled with the same takes day in, day out, even if they’re intellectual ones.
I know there are developers focusing on killer projects right now that make Nostr more enticing, but on a social platform level the place is failing entirely. We have zaps, but we need smoother interfaces, more diversity in talking points, and more reasons why this should be the place everyone wants to be, not just constant screenshots of candle chart formations.

Every platform has become an echo chamber. Nostr is just a it harder to understand and people have trouble with securing a private key, which is the biggest bottleneck for most new people i think
I see lots of stuff. You might want to follow more people. Cooking, travel, conspiracy talk, science, art, human achievements, coding, and so many more things I see on Nostr.
YOU have to take responsibility and look for what you want.
I follow 300+ people, any more and my feed becomes clustered and hard to keep up.
Regardless, I see the reposts, global posts and following posts all diverging on the same talking points, OVER & OVER again.
I see very little candle chart formations, TA or price discussions. I see philosophy, photography, memes, classical music, conspiracy theories etc etc, its hard to get more diverse imo. Do you need to follow more or different people?
I mean following 300+ bitcoiners doesn't solve the problem.

@Noshole
Just to name a few that never talk about Bitcoin.
Like I said it's the feed that you choose for yourself. Certain clients also allow you to only view original posts from the author instead of reposts, boost, or shares.
I’m just stating that there’s not enough? Which is sort of proving my point. These are cool pages that I’ll check out, but we need more is my point.
Bitcoin rhetoric and the centralised topic on this platform which is obviously going to be the case on a system built by Bitcoiners, but the social aspects, conversations and tools are being heavily revolved around those topics which normies find uninviting.
is* not and* (second paragraph, first sentence)
Also if you note about other things, people will find you. Hashtags work wonders. There's a huge following of #philosophy, for instance
(I note about bitcoin quite frequently, so don't interpret anything I say here as self promotion)
Yea hashtags I find have worked massively, in my discovery for content, I still think we need to somehow make this platform more mass appealing, I thought zaps would’ve open the flood gates, but so far things feel like the same. I want to make X absolutely irrelevant with the value for value model, that’s the goal I see, which for some reason hasn’t happened yet.
The phrase to name a few is a way to say "I am abbreviating the list because I don't feel like typing out 50 npubs."
There are more I am just listing a few because I don't know what you like. There's the rabbit holes of @₿en Wehrman, the philosophy and Mathematics of @RedTailHawk, and Art by @🟠 isolabellart.
I dunno man there is more than I can keep up with some maybe you are highly socially insatiable. Needing hubdreds of posts a day about 30-40 different topics.
As my grandma keeps saying, "gotta throw a lot of mud at the wall to get some to stick."
There are 240 million daily users of X, 3 billion monthly users on instagram, 2.7 billion monthly YouTuber users, 750 million Spotify users.
50 npubs is great. I’m talking about end game brother, I want this place to absolutely explode and succeed, so don’t feel the need to be taken back by my observations, I’m just telling you what I see currently despite spending a lot of time on this app and following over 300 people.
Okay, sorry to inform you but those people are never going to join a network that requires personal responsibility. Holding a private key is not something those millions of users will be inclined to do. They WANT to be controlled, fed, and guided.
This rebuttal is tantamount to mourning the fact most people won't join you in your ice sculpting hobby. Yes, they will eat processed food, use fiat money, look at corporate "art", pay their taxes, and be blissful doing it.
This is the reality of the NPC paradigm. They must experience pain in the right circumstance to become a real person. There is no getting around that.
Nostr is literally an extension of Bitcoin .. you can use nostr keys to store Bitcoin ..
the idea that nostr is a Bitcoin echo chamber is like saying internet is a http echo changer cuz every page on www starts with http .. 😂
In fact I would say , there should be more deeper Bitcoin conversation on nostr other than NGU ..
Okay👌
I have acknowledged that in a previous post, but I’m talking about growing the network effect? I don’t get why people are getting things twisted by what I meant:
View quoted note →
Bitcoin is the biggest network effect .. literally everyone needs it .. some may not know it yet ..
the purpose of nostr isn't to monetize attention ..it is to zap 8 billion
Whenever I realize my plan requires other people to change their minds or their behavior I realize it's time for a new plan
You need the attention on nostr to zap 8 billion. It’s as if we’re talking about different things here.
But it’s different, it’s an open source platform.
I’m not enforcing, I like to believe that I’m guiding.
It’s quite literally…. An opinion.
One which seems to be voided due to the fact I’ve pointed out the blatant echo chamber we subside. A little disappointing but owell.
we’ve gotten way off topic. The rules of this echo chamber are bitcoin only.
I've seen many people make this recommendation over the time I've been using nostr. While I think I understand the motivation behind it I always find it irritating.
We all choose who we follow and what we post, but beyond that there's no "we".
And I have no choice to see the same takes? That’s my point.
I’m already stated these takes aren’t bad or ridiculous, they’re pretty intellectual, but I just want more diversity and more creativity.
That’s all I ask for.😅
Mute hashtag, mute phrase. Enjoy.
Doesn’t look like you have anything interesting to say….
Thanks
You always have a choice. And speaking for myself I almost exclusively follow bitcoiners and my feed is far under 50% Bitcoin content. Maybe it's just time to do some follow pruning 🤙
I've been saying this for ages but many don't want to hear it. I support Bitcoin, I hold a little myself (purely from zaps and a few random gifts, since it's very difficult to get any without KYC somewhere), but I don't use social media to talk delusions about how Bitcoin is flawless and fixes everything. I come to social media to talk about stuff that I find interesting, stuff from all aspects of my life.
You know things are bad when Nostr's Bitcoin community ended up turning my whole experience with Bitcoin sour, partly because people don't know how to talk about anything else.
