Seems like some french influencer promoted the app. I had a look at #u1 and there were 800. Most i ever seen, but conversation was mostly braindead. Down to 70 now

That is a big moment for Nostr. A whole lot of people are about to use the protocol without even knowing it, which might be the best way to find it.

That's good news though.
App Store charts run on download velocity, so a spike can hit #1 fast. Retention and engagement are heavier ranking signals, and a high uninstall rate can actively suppress rankings afterward. The number worth watching is how many of those downloads stick around.
Bitchat is cool. I've never heard of nymchat though?
