It's weird how many jobs are for doctors, nurses, practice assistants, and carers. Like half the economy is hospitals and old folk's homes. All of Germany's workforce is just people taking each others' blood pressure. image
I have specific things I want to build, like #Alexandria and a Nostr website for our parish. I just want to build those things because they bring me joy and I use them, myself. And then spend the rest of my time doing something completely different. Something more offline. Something with humans in 3D.
haha i havent even applied since they outsourced my job i am now a self unemployed i am paying myself exactly what i want im putting the digital money from left hand to righ metaphysically lol
I'm the same way ๐Ÿ˜‡ "I got muthafuckin' nephews and in-laws fuckin' all my shit up all the time, and it ain't like I can pop a cap in they ass and not hear about it Thanksgivin' time. For real, I'm livin' life with some burdensome niggas." -- Prop Joe (The Wire)

Agree. I am of the opinion we are all mostly shits. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Well, they own most of the residential real-estate, but a lot of us are living in it with them and/or inheriting it, and there are plenty of families where everyone is being fed off of Grandma's pension. It's just a gigantic demographic overhang. Nobody wants to build lots of houses, to bring down prices, as they know that the population will shrink dramatically, afterward, and then they're stuck with a bunch of empty houses. It'll turn around, really fast, and then everything will be differently weird.
Yeah, I got my two nephews, as well, and then all of the senior citizens and first communion kids at church. I like being around people, tho. People are nice. Looking forward to the BTC Prague convention, in June, so that I can finally see some Nostriches, again. @Essencial @franny I'm starting to have meetup withdrawal symptoms. ๐Ÿ˜‚ It's been too long.
Oh, didn't realize you moved in with family, musta missed that news. Sounds like good symbiosis indeed. That's awesome it's working out for everyone
This was my plan, I quit my job as a senior designer, took a year off to think what I was gonna do, all chill part time jobs unrelated to design I found were paying revoltingly low wages and were like "we need you to be available for overtime sometimes (read: always)". So here I am working as a designer again, not 100% what I wanted, but at least it's part-time.
most adults are too busy to care for their parents or live in a different city or country legal care insurance and care work is becoming really important and you also cant force people to stay with their family
The challenge is real. I tend to get pressured by the unemployment agency into taking engineering positions, since they can place me in 5 minutes and have one less person on their plate. Quick win, for the statistic. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Gotta front-run them, by getting something else, first.
I have a tech business by day, and I make jerky on the side. Keeps things really interesting (and balanced). I also am an amateur/home chef, making food for my friends and family...quiche, homemade soups/stews, casseroles...it's my love language.
