Remember when you bought something and just owned it? Now everything is a subscription, every feature is locked behind a paywall, and every company wants to shove an Al chatbot into your face. We are paying more money to have a worse experience. That is not โ€œIncredibleโ€ progress. Can we not follow suit here on Nostr please!

This is the renter's mindset, and it's what's wrong with the culture. Companies and governments know that if they make dependence comfortable enough, you'll stop asking what you actually own. Then the terms change and you have no leverage. Ownership isn't nostalgia. It's the only bargaining power you have.
No you're wrong. You're living in the cave mindset. I said if the service is fine then I don't need to own it. Why would I want to own a car? when I could just call a self driving car anytime I want. That's the future. Most people if they become super rich. They'd just hire a driver. Why would you drive yourself? Makes no sense.
lol, Ok. Let's work this out. Rich people hiring a driver actually makes my point. They own the car, they employ the driver, and they can fire him and hire another one anytime. They have the leverage. A robotaxi flips that. The company owns the car, sets the price, decides where you can go, and can cut off your account. I'm not against self-driving cars. I'm against having no alternative when the terms change. Renting a ride is fine. Renting your identity, your money, and your data is how you end up with no say in anything.
No you're wrong again. They don't own the car. They rent it from a car company that maintains the car and switches it up for a new one whenever it has issues or it's getting old. Rich people don't buy a car and say hey drive my car and take it to the car to a mechanic when it has issues. Who cares about the price when you're rich. Why would the car company cut the rich owner off the car? They're the ones paying the bills for the car company. You know why you think that way? It's because your poor!
Notice your whole argument only works if you're rich enough that the company needs you. That's my point. Ownership is how everyone else gets leverage. Ad hominem is a great debate strategy if your goal is to lose with confidence.
Ok let's play your game as a poor person. I buy a digital game that doesn't allow me to own it. I play it, finish it. I move on with my life. I buy a physical game. I own it, play it, finish it and I move on with my life. The only difference is now that game is taking up space in my shelf. I want the digital game. It's saves me from throwing it in the trash.
It very simply comes down to two main management areas, time and moneyโ€”yours and mine. The LAST thing RULERS want their subjects to have is free time and discretionary wealth, which makes us a potential threat to them. This isnโ€™t America as it was intended to be and nearly achieved. This not unique to us but we ARE the most egregious hijacking and a crowning achievement with the British Empire, pre-WWI Russia and pre-WWII Germany all relatively recent precursors. The pattern has repeated through history and the method improved with each iteration by a parasitic vulture class that doesnโ€™t create rather it waits until a successful system is built by another. Watching and waiting in the shadows for the telltale apathy and reduced vigilance that inevitably follows success. They have always operated this way, running a very long time horizon that exceeds the ability for living generations memory to observe this pattern and make known. Yes, we donโ€™t have leaders working FOR us (in retrospect this is the now obvious joke on us). We have (have always had) rulers dependent on our naivety, now desperate to maintain their rule, increasingly behaving as cornered wild animals but cornered wild animals behave desperately protecting what is rightfully THEIRSโ€”their lives, not their livelihoods. It is WE that should resemble cornered wild animals not the domesticated livestock we have become. This is an inflection point, kill or be killed, slaughter or be slaughtered. Does this truth make you feel too uncomfortable? Does becoming sausage in a casing, fattening our rulers appear the more civil path? View quoted note โ†’
What's really required is the hardcore tripping on mushrooms mindset. You can do everything then, own, rent, fly. Win.

That is not true. Real rich people are free and they own cars. Nice cars. Cars that is nice to drive. They call the mechanics because the car gives a good feeling. They do not buy a Tesla, they buy a 1980 Countach. The half rich people that still need to show up at work rent a car because they need a car to move. They hate that car.
