To other developers I'm not a developer because I have never built an application from the ground up, but to non-technical people, me running servers, services for Nostr users, and hacking things together puts me in the same bracket. But that's correct, I'm not a developer. Systems administrator or DevOps. I don't need donations though. Zap other people doing cooler things than Derek.
We should make more lists for different categories and separate “holidays” per say. Bitcoin Devs Bitcoin Contributors Nostr Devs Nostr Contributors Would be fun to expand the culture of our humble community
I think I follow all of them. Maybe one or two follows me. I wished they would talk to a simple pleb like me at least once. All well.

I really wish people would stop looking at themselves as “simple plebs”. You carry inside you the capacity to be anything and anyone. To do one thing and to do most things. I don’t want to talk to people simply because they feel some weird sort of pity about themselves. I want to talk to people about their ideas and actions. This whole thing about who is following who, and which influencer said what and to whom is pathetic. We are all just people at the end of the day and people communicate ideas with words. Treat people like people and share interesting things and they’ll respond in kind. I’ll start muting peole who take pity on themselves. If they can’t respect themselves, why should I?
I take no pity on myself. I am simply stating facts. I could care less if devs talk to me. I make my own posts and hopefully create value of sharing information.

Ok but I see people complaining about “oh they don’t talk to me, or they only talk to other devs or I’m just a pleb, or he muted me *sadface* or some other nonsense. Who cares… there’s so many people here just share what you want and people will engage with that. I’m just getting fed up with it 😂

Fuck I’m glad you said it. In Frank’s case it’s genuinely just humility. He’s a boss with great ideas, I’ve spent time with him in nests. But the “simple pleb” thing has always grated on me. Especially when it’s used disingenuously, but even still… we aim to elevate the individual - or at least I do. I hope you don’t mute Frank though. I like Frank. 🤣❤️
I don’t care. I have no pity and no sad faces. No fucks to give. I am just posting my usual notes and engaging with people who wish to engage with me. (A lot of people call themselves “simple plebs” - just saying they are just another citizen here on Nostr. No better no worse, just here). I zap people who I want to zap.

I know what he’s generally frustrated at, but I know it’s also not you. 🤣 You’re an idea guy, and I like some of those ideas. They’re worth listening to. ❤️❤️
i'm always up for answering questions about Golang and distributed systems if you want technical help. yesterday some ETHheads popped into my feed to muddy the waters with lies and half truths about consensus algorithms and nostr that made many people confused. YES nostr needs a consensus algorithm but NO absolutely not a blockchain, it doesn't need strong consistency. facebook and twitter etc don't have strongly consistent databases neither do we. that sort of thing. i'm not doing a lot of Go coding at the moment, working on some container deployment scripting stuff but probably will get to do some async/concurrent code again soon, which is my favourite.
Everyone have useful skills, you don't have to be a coder to support and give back to the community, some times you don't even have to consider yourself "good" at something to bring huge value back. Just do it.
