"why aren't people using bitcoin" - me for 14 years "why aren't people using nostr" - me for 2 years It's going to be another 12 years for nostr isn't it 😭 oh well, lots of time to build stuff. bitcoin NGU should help fund the latter at least :D

I’m fully prepared to wait another 20+ years before #Bitcoin and #nostr are genuinely mainstream. These are significant paradigm shifts, the “collective conscious” has a lot of catching up to do.
I think people will use nostr without realising they use nostr. And it's fine. It's like using internet without knowing it's tcp/ip

Fortunately, Nostr doesn't have KYC, which is the one thing that keeps me from getting into Bitcoin. I really wish I bought early, not just because of the massive increase in value, but because KYC was significantly less of an issue early on. So yeah, I'd say Nostr has a leg up on Bitcoin in that regard.

NGU … 📈🔥🚀 … I’ve heard about the idea but … ❌👀💩
pretty sure we'll have a mainstream/close to mainstream nostr app/platform by the end of 2025 It's all open and compounding, no point of comparing nostr to any of the walled gardens
Being one year early will make you rich, being ten years early will drive you insane.
Look on the bright side, the Gvmt push to ban social media companies who won't do their bidding - like Brazil just did with X and Europe is gearing up to do - could shave many years off those 12... All you have to do is hope everything goes to shit fast! 😂😭
Michael Burry lost his shit. And got way over his skis. Definition of insane. He wouldn’t do it again for the money. I agree on Big Bets but BTC allows for DCA & time can be on your side if you don’t overextend yourself. Choices. It’s all choices. Insanity is right around the corner for anyone.

This is where my retardation works for me thinking I’m doing my part by being one ant on the freedom anthill
I think nostr will be faster. We don't have to be careful and have strong consensus in nostr. We can move fast and break stuff here, the network doesn't have to be in sync.

There’s always be “Why” … always… 😂
Here’s the thing. Nobody should feel demoralized because a million people didn’t just show up on Nostr because Xitter was cut off in Brazil. We were never going to see a flood of adoption like that, and if we had, most of them would have left within a day. The concepts behind Nostr are more complex and it takes a certain type of person to want to step through the looking glass. The reason the apps are janky is because experimentation is valued over conformity. The things that make it frustrating are the same things that make it awesome.
With NIP-54's recent downgrade to asciidoc yeah it might be another 12 years for nostr lol With the current state of tech education, it's probably still 12 years for bitcoin too

I think we are running much faster than before look at government social controls around the world. It’s just NOSTR advertising!

Nostr pleb has grown considerably in the last year. I don’t think you will need to wait 12 more years. The government will help you big time 😉

while i really love nostr and how it works the issue its monetization . While sats are great its not enough of an insentive popular accounts with 1M + followers make like 15k a month on X. While many people care about freedom and freedom of speech they can't live on freedom. This are just the realites of the world. Money makes the world go around. Now if there was any way to have adds linked to your key or whatever way it can be done nostr would skyrocket. Here is me hoping this happens as i want nothing more for nostr to be a huge success :)

Trying to enjoy each phase of my journey but man it's hard to be patient. My son always says enjoy the process not the destination.
I don’t think monetization is an issue. I think the only thing preventing monetization like that is scale. While we don’t know impression numbers on Nostr, you will get paid about $4-8 per million impressions on X. Let’s take the upper range, $8/million impressions. On X, if you have 1.5 billion impressions in a month, you will make about $12,000 in revenue at $8/million impressions. Now let’s look at Nostr. Let’s say 0.5% of people zap a post with 21 sats. This means that for 1 million impressions, you will have 5000 zaps, totaling 105,000 sats. 105 ksat is around $61. This means you would be paid around $61 per million impressions. So, on Nostr, if you could pull in 1.5 billion impressions in a month, you would make around 157.5 Msat, or $91,300, if only 0.5% of viewers left a 21 sat zap. That is 7.6x as much as you would make on X. We are so early to Nostr. The most zapped posts are probably only getting thousands of impressions. I feel that the zap rate would be much higher than 0.5%, but if it were only 0.1%, you would still make more than on X. Ad revenue on X is a joke. Micropayments will destroy ad revenue based services. We will still see advertiser deals like you see on podcasts. Certain types of content, like videos, would see a higher rate of payment than simple tweet style posts.
We are so early, I think anybody who is active today on Nostr and remains active over the next 5-10 years will be major influencers on the network. It will snowball as adoption grows

Sometimes I'm amazed he's only 16, has a mature soul.
I hardly ever used bitcoin till I could zap. Nostr brings bitcoin forward like nothing else. Not really relevant to what you say, but anyway 😀

Try HodlHodl. A little bit different than purchasing on a conventional exchange, but not difficult. Very well established and no KYC.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried so many things at this point that I won't get my hopes up but I will look into it.
