Say I specify my YouTube, or twtr email/login address. Zapplepay follows my YT email. If I like a video on YT, or a tweet, zapplepay checks the corresponding video or tweet author for a LN address. If it exists, zapplepay zaps.

Haha normally Apple adds new emojis in each iOS and OS update. Will this be a turning point and will Apple now remove emojis in a future update? ⚡️ Good luck on stopping free speech. What a brilliant move is this Zapplepay 🤣

Legend
I like the other way better but this is still hot af. This reminds me of the final hallway scene from Matrix I, “plebs are beginning to believe”. 😂😎🔱🔥💯💣😝🔱
This is a great idea. The UX/UI needs a lot of improvement, especially giving instructions for setting up NWC. I have Alby and figured that out, I think, but it wouldn’t save.

Yeah, I don’t think that this will get you banned. Massive applications in the App Store have work arounds. Spotify won’t even let you sign up through their iOS application. You’d think Apple, as a direct competitor in music streaming, would have thrown the gauntlet down. They didn’t. I highly doubt they’re going do anything about this. It has nothing to do with your application.
This is still against their app policy, the fact that its emojis vs proper UI is irrelevant. They are not disallowing zaps by mistake, I’m sure Cook is aware of the threat BTC poses to their monopoly tax. iOS is an antithetical platform to nostr, we must embrace open W3C standards.
This would imply that displaying note zaps is not allowed, because i have no control over what third party service people use for sending zaps in response to reactions. You do have to go outside of the app to set this up… definitely gray area. Not sure how app reviewers would interpret it.
Then please someone build a similar thing for WhatsApp and Twitter and Threads and every app you can imagine and get the whole world banned and leave apple with an empty AppStore with just their Messages and FaceTime apps on it 😂

What about the EU banning the walled garden? Forcing Apple to allow side loading ? This should change things
Assuming they allow it, are you willing to give 30% of all zaps to Apple to enable the previous feature? It’s risky to build any app on a tech monopoly platform.

You need to create a web version of Nostr. Anyone should be able to generate their own keys and sign in. That way, Apple has no way of censoring Nostr. Third party clients are an added benefit. You shouldn’t be dependent on third party clients.
So what is someone sets up a hidden zap service scanning for emoji’s or hastags in tweets and zap-addresses in bio’s? Would Twitter app get banned?
That may effectively happen. But let’s see the bright side of it: the reason they will provide in order to shut this down is going to be, if it ever happens, a funky reason!

Apparently IOS 17 launch will come with side loading at least in the EU so there is hope
Apple guidelines are quite simple. If the "content" is consumed inside the app, they want 30%. Which is why you can't buy a Kindle on the Amazon app. This has nothing to do with #bitcoin
Correct, we have a disclaimer inside our iOS app (so does Netflix) that alert the user they can buy a membership on our website and we never had a problem with Apple. As long as the "purchase" of the content happens outside of Damus, they will have no problem with it.
So it’s our disclaimer that says you can buy a membership - which is required to use the app - outside of the app. Now I wonder if we should also add a button that send the user directly to our website. image
In other words Apple doesn’t really care that we’re instructing users on how to evade their 30% commission. It only cares that when “content” is “purchased” AND “consumed” inside the app, they get 30% of it.
The original zap feature doesn’t fit that description as the content was not purchased. It was public, zaps were like micro donations. Apple is likely afraid of BTC circumventing their ability to charge fees entirely. An interesting test is to submit a new app, with the old feature enabled but that gives 30% of the BTC to Apple.

People can post emoji in twitter app too.
