O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love thou dost in us command. We see thee rising fair, dear land, The True North, strong and free; And stand on guard, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee. 🇨🇦
I'm sorry to hear this Utxo. Don't bank with British banks, not even fintechs. Folks are unfortunately getting debanking left and right now. A friend of mine got debanked for buying and selling BTC on a big famous exchange, all KYCed and inside the system. They will likely close your account and ask for another account to deposit your money in 30 days. Let me know if you find an alternative with good FX rates (Revolut comes to mind, but they are also based in the UK).
I wonder if you would have had the same outcome if you only ever kept no more than 5k or 10k in your account at all times?

This is why Bitcoin matters. It’s fucking insane that anyone has the ability to freeze funds of another individual. Absolutely ludicrous. View quoted note →
I wonder which agency flagged the account. Maybe it wasn’t FINTRAC, Canada. Sorry to see this happen and thanks for sharing. I’ve been thinking more and more about banking risks and stories like these help.
the same thing happened to Steam developers when Paypal froze the payment they were going to receive to pay the bills

Sorry buddy. Hope this gets sorted out soon. To bad there isn’t an easy way to run a business on a BTC standard but be able to pay through normal payment rails.
