Based in Paramaribo, Suriname, Bitcoin Sranan is one of the recipients of our recent Bitcoin Beach Grants for Bitcoin Circular Economies. They are truly picking up the pace building the #Bitcoin circular economy in #Suriname alongside Nova Stars FC, a social impact project advancing education and financial inclusion via football and Bitcoin. Below are some of the many local merchants who are now accepting Bitcoin and participating in the growing circular economy! 🇸🇷🙌🧡
We will eventually reach a point where small, local #Bitcoin circular economies merge with each other and the #BTC circular economy will simply be the norm. The overall economy will simply be Bitcoin oriented, operating at scale as the only medium of exchange or alongside another fiat currency.
There is a very good chance that we will see this realized first in #ElSalvador. Not only are there already multiple local Bitcoin circular economies like Bitcoin Beach, @npub17mx0...222d, and Bitcoin La Pirraya, but Bitcoin is also legal tender, it is being held and mined by the national government under leadership of @npub1n6yc...a474, the National Assembly, and the El Salvador Bitcoin Office, but Bitcoin education and financial literacy education are being integrated into the public education system, based on the @My First Bitcoin curriculum and model. This last point receives far too little attention. It assures the resilience of the population and the scale-up of normalized use of Bitcoin well into the future.
It is also very likely that the progress made in El Salvador over the coming years will cascade throughout Central America, with nodes of activity also being formulated by @npub1tw4a...6nwr @npub14f26...v7lu @AmityAge @bitcoinyucatan and others. A regional Bitcoin circular economy for Central America is just beyond the horizon, the reality of the next generation.

The project Bitcoin Dominicana has been making major progress growing the #Bitcoin circular economy in the #DominicanRepublic. They are one of the recipients of our recent Bitcoin Beach Grants for Bitcoin Circular Economies, an initiative on which FBCE partnered with Bitcoin Beach (El Salvador) and @npub1kmwd...xqk9.
Bitcoin Dominicana's efforts have begun receiving a LOT of public and media attention, including the recent article below. While the article needs correction that we are talking about Bitcoin only and not "other crypto", and that businesses are only accepting Bitcoin as payment, it is good to see media tuning in.

More and more businesses in the Dominican Republic are accepting bitcoin.
So far, 41 businesses accept bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a means of payment on the island.
Key facts:
✅ Bitcoin Dominicana affirms that the growth of businesses accepting BTC “has been constant.”
✅ The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean island with the most locations within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
The adoption of bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies among businesses in the Dominican Republic is increasing. More than 40 locations already accept these digital assets as means of payment, according to @BTC Map data.
On its website, the monitoring platform indicates that 41 businesses on the island accept crypto assets for payments. Thus, the Dominican Republic is positioned as the second largest island in the Caribbean Sea with the most businesses adopting cryptocurrencies.
@BTC Map shows that the majority of Dominican merchants that accept BTC and cryptoassets as payment are located in the capital, Santo Domingo. There is also a presence of stores in Punta Cana, Samaná, Santiago de los Caballeros, Puerto Plata and Cabarete.
According to what@BTC Map shows, restaurants, supermarkets, wineries, recording studios, technology stores, skateparks, cafes and even textile factories in the Dominican Republic accept #BTC and cryptocurrencies as means of payment.
With its 41 businesses, the Dominican Republic surpasses Cuba (32), Puerto Rico (7) and San Martín (6) in the number of locations accepting Bitcoin. Although it is still behind Curacao, which is the Caribbean island with the highest number of businesses that adopted crypto assets (79).
Most businesses that now accept BTC and crypto assets as payment in the Dominican Republic have the support of the Bitcoin Dominicana organization, which is dedicated to promoting the BTC economy in that country.
Bitcoin Dominicana said that the growth of businesses that accept cryptoassets as payment “has been constant.” This, highlighting that since last year the number of locations that adopted BTC and cryptocurrencies has increased.
This indicates a “consolidation of our Bitcoin circular economy into something special for participating business owners and our country,” according to the organization.

On July 30, 2024, we announced the winners of the inaugural Bitcoin Beach Grants for #Bitcoin Circular Economies.
This partnership between the Federation of Bitcoin Circular Economies (@FBCE), Bitcoin Beach (El Salvador) and @npub1kmwd...xqk9 was designed to help new and small Bitcoin circular economy projects advance their local activities.
A total of 50,000,000 sats were awarded to 23 projects from 18 countries around the world.

🇧🇬 3 million sats to Ordermoon, an innovative project growing the Bitcoin circular economy in Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv in Bulgaria through BTC enabled restaurant listings, table booking, and food ordering.
🇮🇩 3 million sats to Bitcoin House Bali for their work to build a closed-loop Bitcoin circular economy in Bali, Indonesia.

📣 We’ll be adding more details about the Bitcoin Beach Grants campaign to the @npub1kmwd...xqk9 page soon (workshops, application criteria and timelines, etc). In the meantime, groups interested in these #Bitcoin grants should please take note of some important details.
✅ The Bitcoin Beach Grants are intended for #Bitcoin circular economy projects and NOT for independent Bitcoin education activities, meet-ups, content creation activities, human rights campaigns, or other activities like this in isolation.
Activities like that may be included in an application as components of the plan to build the local #BTC circular economy, of course. They are all key components of building out a #BTC circular economy. But the grants are not intended to support these activities in isolation.
Groups interested in funding to support activities like this (ie, education, meetups, etc) will need to integrate them into a local #BTC circular economy vision and project. Newly proposed and created #BTC circular economy projects are very welcome to apply!
