GM 🌞 Its just me or some people in nostr are lately losing their heads? I'm starting to not feel comfortable around here anymore πŸ₯²

Bear markets do that. Also Bitcoin narrative is weakening. Grocery bill rising. Take care it'll be a wild ride when the general public will be placed into a bear market.
It's really crazy how much aggressiveness there is around... Is it perhaps the effect and stress of the bear market? Many people simply don't know how to regulate themselves and let their emotions run wild without any filter. Just take a break, or counteract by putting positivity into the protocol... Unfollow the people who are unpleasant and follow those who touch you with goodness πŸ•ŠοΈ
Hmm maybe... But not sure tbh. I've been around during other bear markets and never felt like that. Before the community was more cohesive and now it feels like fragmented by childishness and unnecessary drama
Hey yea, maybe but I'm not sold on that the reason are the bears. They can definitely contribute, but feels different. We've had other bear markets around and ot feels different than back then. But yea, great advice and thanks for your energy :))
I don't know maybe I feel attached to this protocol. I've been around for long time and lately it feels that the community is fragmented and drove by childishness. Maybe is just a phase, I don't know, I'll keep my eyes and hears wide open. But once upon a time nostr felt like a bastion of people that really wanted to change stuff and the status quo, and now that feels more diluted and weakened
I'm trying to reconcile the same. What you working on atm gzuus. Contextvm?
Probably Nostr just became "social media" finally? If lessons not learned, that's sad. Social media is not a good place for discussions because it makes people wanna argue🫠
Nostr has to fragment, it’s a protocol not a community. I see what’s happening as the immune system trying to do its job. Money is over, underlining conflicts come to the surface, projects die, bad actors get pointed at… typical bear market stuff. Clean the mess in time for the next up wave…
True. But I can just recommend to mute people, that make you feel unconfortable. I can not speak for you. But for me Nostr offers so much, I did not find anywhere in technology yet. So I much better like to change my filters than simply not looking into nostr anymore.
Yeah I'm stuck at wisp v1.0.5 because of the bad choices that the Webmaster has done. A shame because it's an amazingly promising client, hope he'll come back to his mind one day.
I just started trying wisp before the update. And yes it is a nice app. But I think everyone which likes to be free, needs to respect the free decision of others. It has an authoritarian touch, when people demand others to work for their needs. The code is free. So everyone can try to support a fork of wisp when someone is willing to support it. I am actually very happy for every developer, that devotes time for nostr applications. Be it for relays or for clients. In the end every free developer enlarges the opportunity of future developers. And as more opportunities there are as more probable it is to get great applications as a user as well.
People sense deeper change before it begins. Many OGs left the project already. Either they joined forces with TradFi or they went dark (Monero). What you see is the leftovers, ideologically tired, economically burnt out, on the ground adiption stalled out, price attacked (fractional reserves) with no clear vision for the future other than fiat NGU. Life cycle over the zenith is when the fighting begins. True for fait. True for Bitcoin. Gold is superior in that sense as if has no social layer to argue with. Else Monero is more private and his the spirit + mind share.
Exactly this is why I chose to continue to use v1.0.5, with amber support and no Google logo anywhere inside 🀣🀣🀣

I guess you have to add to the mix of the disappointment when reality does not match your expectations. Some people already moved on, some are coping with the 5 stages of grief. I guess this highly depends on your involvement, and expectations. If you were involved a little, or did not expect everything fast, then probably is not that bad for you.
It's probably just some people letting off steam who never liked each other in the first place or who went their separate ways some time ago. I don't see how this should impact nostr all that much. Some of the note deletion/what belongs on relays/who caves to pressure to take down notes stuff is better to happen now than later, IMHO. If the dystopia is in full steam I'd like to have some gauge as to who might behave in which manner if things ever get serious. For me, some of the virtue signalling in the replies was more annoying than the few notes actually starting the drama. Difficult to steer up drama if no one participates.
A lot of time and money has been spent building here for years now and the results are bad, coupled with everyone losing half their purchasing power this year, bit of a powder keg situation This too shall pass

We thought we were better than bluesky but it might turn out that we are just the other side of the same coin
Growth always brings noise before signal. The difference with Nostr is you can curate your own feed instead of being at the mercy of an algorithm.

Nostr is just a protocol. It's a good thing to find opposite visions to yours using it.
Nostr is awesome. I'm here for the tech not for the unnecessary drama we are having lately all the time. That's tiring
Yea, mainly contextvm, also other gigs. Also helping build cordn.net which I really like. Already using it all the time. We also have a cvm channel there
