I’m still just gonna call them sats. Bitcoin itself is confusing. let normies have to actually think a little bit. It’ll be good for them. image

Yeah, to be honest, I don't really care what people call it. But I don't like the idea of having to go, "well, there's still only 21 million, because 2.1 quadrillion is the same, except for it's just a smaller part, and..." which is just having to re-explain the same thing we're trying to avoid in the first place, except now we started out with even more confusion. I think it's too late to try to force some kind of change. If people change it, it'll happen organically.
I agree bro 🤝😉 And then there is a risk. That those who know ₿ little. Maybe they only know about 21 million. How can you explain to him that there are quadrillions? Maybe they can think without deepening that ₿ it's not scarce anymore 🤷‍♂️

Blues and hip hop artists will decide what to call it.

I remember in Portugal before the euro, street name for the currency(escudo) was (paus) 'sticks', the name for 1000(escudos) was(conto) 'story', quite telling on the currency value. Bitcoin and sats are strong names, they will stick.
In fact there was a video recently where someone said “we should do a stock split” and I kinda laughed because my first thought was “so you think you can explain a stock split to normies?” 😂 nevent1qqsqzpst74rf0wjdnkz0nsg029zgr0ganuvcpycv239ug8dtt2wm3lspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgjck625

Poor Adam, I'm sure he meant well, but "Bits" was just not it. Good idea, but bad naming and PR. Seems so long ago those twitter days...
Two names and primary math. How difficult can it be? People unable to get that probably will not be able to understand any other aspect of BTC and will not adopt it in the first place.

No currency has 1 commonly-named unit worth 100 million times the other. If worth100 times, that's reasonable. If worth 100 million times, that's ridiculous.
Which means that noone will really talk about "bitcoins", because evwryone will deal in sats, when we have gone another 10x. A bitcoin will be out of reach for most people. I am sure there are other examples of the currency and the unit having different names.
Even the founder of Bitcoin is still unclear. In comparison, 1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 sats Bitcoin is not complicated. Sats are generated by community consensus, and are not only a unit but also a commemoration. Fortunately, there is no Bitcoin central bank to announce the official Bitcoin unit. image

Though Bitcoin itself is confusing, once you get yourself through all of the noise and realize you don't have to understand it on a programmatic level to just shut up have faith and stack because you eventually come to the conclusion that it's the only thing we plebs have that will always remain fundamentally as-is.

It’s kind of crazy that people are spending so much effort trying to enforce a change to a label instead of actually improving things that matter.

"Oshis" are better. Example: I am oshing, I oshied you Being able to use it as a verb is a massive plus!
We already have the verb though, its zapped. Zapping > Oshing However since things are likely to pop up with probabilistic payments in lightning with millisats, that might be a good candidate for "oshies." Sounds like a smaller unit too for some reason

Zapping ≠ satting, might bw confusing. The first mover advantage sats have make it better for sure. Other than that, oshis seem more practical imo.
